As a Kos diarist said, the bill will save ~150,000 lives over the next decade, save over 100 billion dollars, and insure 30 million people. Sadly, a bullshit, back-of-napkin public option is all that's offered, which will probably be more expensive and less effective than the proven public option. And many of the other provisions, such as the anti-woman ammendments, are still there. However, hopefully that can be gradually expanded upon with Grayson's bill or future efforts. But, and most importantly, the fascists lost. Again, On something they were rabidly obsessed with for several months. Hey Fred...the Senate Reconcilliation bill has the proven public option on you. Ironbite-so stop doing this I hate the US Government schtick.

Remember, when you don't starve and die, who did that for you. Except,... [1] Medicare and Social Security are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. [2] Unemployment has been hit so hard by the economy that there's barely enough money to pay for those who are already in the system. [3] The recession still ain't over, meaning that jobs are still being lost.

skyfire sure has changed tune fairly quickly: You know how a lot of newspapers are sucking it up thanks to the recession? We're actually thriving, such that the boss is considering acquiring some property above and beyond our office space for the sake of purchasing his own press, that way we aren't having to perpetually rent time on someone else's machines. Not only will it save us money and time in regards to getting the papers each night (currently, the head courier has to go at least an hour each way to where the other press is), that's also going to mean more jobs for the city as someone is going to have to operate and maintain the equipment. On top of that, having our own press might mean we run the paper more often than just twice a week. Since those of us who deliver the paper are paid hourly, that will mean more $$$ for us. And depending on how things work, that might also mean hiring another driver or two since two of the current drivers have a hard external limit on the number of hours they can work each week (one is caring for his niece and has limited options for baby-sitting, while the other will lose his aid & disability money if he works too many hours). So instead of striking us down, Smith has only made us more powerful. 8) That was just over three months ago. Big difference.

Ironbite-I honestly want your answer in that because I'm sure it'll be just so informative.

The rage that fills my heart right now is almost as much as am abomination as these politicians That thread filled me with something that might have been glee. Fred: Are you going to enlighten Nickerson and anyone else who is curious about the anti-women amendment you spoke of in your post?

No really... that birther dude who I'm friends with on facebook says that the recession was because of Clinton. "It started before 2000! and then Bush made it bounce back, but then Obama ruined it!" I like revisionists. Speaking of, I'd like to hear your answer sky.

I can predict the future. I see many, many Rapture Retards crying about this being a sign of the end times, and their posts appearing on the FSTDT main page for our laughing pleasure.

The democrats won? There IS a God!!!!!
. . .
Well, not really, but you know what I mean. This is the single most awesome bit of news since the invention of news. It means that not only will we finally have put a leash on the insurance companies, but more importantly the demonstration that the democratic party is actually capable of doing something will bring much needed hope to a base which has long been despondent about our only choices being between a political party which is evil and one which is was useless. Three cheers for Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and every one of the 219 democrats who voted yes on this bill.
