Also, is anyone else annoyed at the reasons the guy is citing that women should be kicked out, namely the fact that the army is more merciful?
What the fuck is with these idiots who think mercy and helping your own side out instead of shooting the enemy is a bad thing? I swear, it's like the only thing that matters to them is killing other people.
Which... says a lot.

In fact they mean a great deal, depending on how the data is distributed. This. That averages aren't everything doesn't make them mean nothing. If you're trying to decide whether to go on heavy lifting competition against a man or a woman, it's pretty useful to know the average. Not as useful as knowing the actual physical strength of the people involved, but it's useful. Of course, this doesn't apply to the situation at hand, since the military can observe individual physical strength directly instead of relying on averages. Just thought I'd comment.

Average people in Government is a good idea, Deadpan! Edit: Also, I wasn't arguing with you. Just backing up the hormonal bit you yourself referenced. I just didn't want to be harpooned as sexist. I've been ridden recently by someone who borders on straw feminism of late, so I'm a bit...Jumpy on gender issues. Naw, I know you aren't sexist...I hate admitting it, but there are physical differences between those with ovaries and those with testicles. Besides the obvious, anyway. I've just never seen how they make that big of a difference in most circumstances... And woo, average people running the country, woo, awright!

To be fair, what he said is that "Military should reduce role of women", and I completely agree that war is no women's business and female members of the military should be confined to non-combat duties away from frontlines. Please feel free to tell that to the members of the Menshivik (women's) battalion who defended the Russian Duma against the Bolshevik forces (holding them at a stalemate until warships started shelling the place) or indeed the soviet female soldiers who fought so successfully against the Nazis. I'd like to include Jeanne d'Arc, but that 2000+ strong Scottish army she had at her back may have had something to do with her victories.

Yeah, fair point. I concede. For the record...we dont fill sand bags or dig fox holes anymore. This isn't WWII. Sand bags come pre-filled on the back of a deuce and a half and yeah...Foxholes really aren't used so much anymore. Trench warfare is pretty much done for.. Joe, are you at all familiar with the expression "Tempting fate"?

I know a lot of people who get offended at the mere suggestion. And, of cours,e I come from "male privelege." Which means I can't possibly be objective, We totally need more average people in leadership. I mean, who cares if you know what you're doing? I want a leader I can have a beer with... ...after he starts a war with Saudi Arabia because he thinks Saddam Hussein is their leader.

I'd like more average people in leadership, if only because they'd be more likely to stop the tax cuts on the obscenely wealthy. Maybe even increase them, and if we're really, really lucky, giving them 1/3 the tax rate they had in the 1950s.

I should be in office.
"Mr. President, you can't just invade them. Not only is it an unjust war, Hawaii is ALREADY A STATE." "But we'll win." "That's not the point!"
