Cons are at 165 now on CBC. They're suggesting that a majority is, in Manbridge's words, "More than likely".
Elizabeth May got a seat in BC. Kinda glad about that -- I like her.
Looks like Ignatieff will lose his seat.
Edit: CBC just announced a Conservative majority. Ugh.
Thus, we see one of the biggest flaws in our system: Most of the country (in terms of individuals) did not vote for the Conservatives, yet they still get a majority. Looks like we're going for coffee instead of beer.

We need a left-wing coalition.
Edit: Ignatieff is giving his speech.

Yep, a Conservative majority government now. This country is slipping further and further to the right.

^^ I was expecting them to get a minority, but not a majority.
Ignatieff's speech sounds like a eulogy for the Liberal party.
He really should have stepped down. :\

Honestly though, Canada is pretty much left sided compared to our neighbours in the south. Many things that most Republicans would faint dead at, such as Universal Healthcare, Gay Marriage, Protection of Minorities, are practically rooted in our country. Even if the PC wanted to turn Canada into a mini USA, they would have a hard time trying to convince anyone.

I think Ignatieff is going to be stepping down after this fiasco.

I hope he does. I really have nothing against him, but he's not the leader the party needs. Nor the leader they deserve, for that matter. /obligatory Dark Knight reference.

So you're saying that Harvey Dent should lead the Liberals?

Yes. He would, after all, fit right in.

The Bloc lost 46 seats. Holy shit.
Edit: Duceppe just resigned.
Results (subject to change, but only by one or two seats): 166 Con, 104 NDP, 34 Lib, 3 BQ, Green 1.

What is the popular vote breakdown? The results are still fluctuating, but it looks to be in the area of about 40% for the Conservatives, 30-31% NDP, a little under 19% for the Liberals, ~6% for the Bloc, and the rest Green or independent. www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadavotes2011/
