I very highly suspect that, like Michael Jackson, the people who surrounded her ignored and even enabled her substance-abuse and mental-health problems for their own benefit. Actually I think her father tried to get her to get help several times. She should of said yes, yes, yes. Yes, I know I'm horrible.

Nah. We all know we were thinking it from the moment we first heard the news.

It's always sad to see someone die like this, but as others have said, I'm not terribly surprised. I only knew who she was because, for some reason, people loved to make sims of her and upload them to a Sims site for us to see. /lame

[insert some platitudes here] Don't care, cricket's on. And here we have the rare and elusive cricket fan...See how his eyes glaze over and the random incoherant curse words dribble from his maw. Let's have a closer look shall we? ::scoots closer to DaveDan's Laz-E-Boy (Also known as the Throne of Misery):: Oh would ya look at that! Such an amazing specimen. Do you smell that? It's the cricket fan's musk. Aye, that's right...it's a mix of bacon and stale beer. Watch it mate! He's cranky! Cranky as usual! And would you lookit! He has a knife!! In regards to Winehouse....Meh, saw it coming. She, at one point, snorted vodka. Seriously.

Lightweight. Ozzy Osbourne snorted ants, and he's still knocking around.
Incidentally, I'm pretty sure she's more than 27, because I read a mini-bio when she first became famous, and she was born a couple of years before me.

Ozzy is a special case. Medical science is currently trying to figure out how the fuck he's still alive.

Is she still dead?
No change in her condition?
Judging from the ongoing news coverage you wouldn't have thought so.

Ozzy is a special case. Medical science is currently trying to figure out how the fuck he's still alive. Cause he's Ozzy Fucking Osbourne and he's unlocked the secret to eternal life-- you just have to sacrifice being unable to be understood by the general population.

Actually I think her father tried to get her to get help several times. I heard her dad on the radio, and he sounded so disconnected. But the gist of it was "I told her so." Granted, as my faqther commented, it would have been more appropriate for a fender-bender, but....

I very highly suspect that, like Michael Jackson, the people who surrounded her ignored and even enabled her substance-abuse and mental-health problems for their own benefit. Blake "oxygen thief" Fielder, her ex-husband, likes to tell people the story of how when she first OD'd, he was the one who saved her. What he doesn't like people then pointing out was that he was the one supplying her with the drugs that made her OD in the first place.

I've heard (but can't find a source on this, so take it with a grain of salt) that Amy Winehouse's cause of death wasn't drug overdose, but rather the opposite: withdrawal.
Apparently, she did try to get better, but she wanted to do it without rehab.
If it was withdrawal, then it was most certainly a painful death.

^^ Her family thinks it may have been DTs that killed her, as she apparently wanted to go cold turkey from alcohol instead of cutting back gradually. It takes a while for toxicology reports to come back, so it'll be a least a couple of weeks before they find out for sure.
It she did die from withdrawal, it would certainly add an extra layer of tragedy to the whole thing.
