The male laytex condom, when used correctly, has a success fate of 97%, for typical (incorrect) use it's 86% effective. Not that these numbers don't include spermicide. linkCondoms are one of the greatest medical inventions of all time, and we ought to be passing them out like candy. Condom's effectiveness in preventing HIV transmission is pretty damn great. I did a speech on comprehensive sex ed this year in my public speaking class, and a study in the New England Journal of Medicine showed zero cases of transmission between HIV positive people and their HIV negative partners with consistent condom used in over fifteen thousand cases of intercourse. They're like magic AIDS killing machines. And they're also effective in preventing the transmission of the two STDs that are the most common here in Georgia.

It's right next to the verse where it forbids abortion.

It's right next to the verse where it forbids abortion. The condoms one is kinda open to interpretation. Many scholars believe Paul was merely speaking against the common practice of dry humping. Abortions, however, are pretty cut and dry.

What quote is supposed to talk about condoms? The only things I've heard is the "be fruitful and multiply", "don't let your seed fall on the ground (which is about not doing your sacred duty, not about the sex itself).
As for abortions, well if you cause a woman to lose a kid, you have to pay a fine to the husband. Yeah, that's not really against abortion, especially if the husband didn't want the kid either.
