Well, yes--of course the fundies have to out-breed the Brown People! Except that, around here at least, the Hispanic population tends to be more conservative and religiously-minded--anti-choice and anti-gay and have pretty old-fashioned ideas about the role of women. But that might just be in my area. It's probably good old-fashioned racism as much as trying to outnumber political opposition.

I'm sure I saw it on the main page, yes.

I knew what it was going to be as soon as I saw that the link was to a Japanese website. I remember reading about that business on TV Tropes.

Funny, the thing that's tripping him up is a common misconception, that AD is 'after death' which it isn't. It's some random latin I don't remember of the top of my head. Anno Domini, Year of our Lord. Also, THERE WAS NO YEAR ZERO! Sorry, touchy subject This is why some people celebrated the millennium in 2000 (when we were officially told it was) and some in 2001 (when a lot of people realised it actually was).

I picked Fred Phelps. And it looks like I am the only one too. To me, all the others pale in comparison to the batshittery that is Fred Phelps. He's like the SUPER Fundie, whether they like it or not. A lot of Fundies still have the sense to be disgusted by him but what they don't understand is that Phelps is just basically your average Fundie times a thousand. On the contrary, I believe they're fully aware of that. They don't like him not because they disagree with him, but because he doesn't bother with the "we don't hate them really!" facade they try to hide behind.

Especially as no less than Answers in Genesis have denounced Hovind.

Currently reading the Night's Dawn trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton, having read some of his more recent books thanks to a recommendation from (of all things) the "you might also like" function on Amazon. I'm about two-thirds of the way through the first door-stopper so it'll probably keep me busy for quite a while, as I tend to do most of my reading on the bus to and from work which gives me about an hour a day.

And let's not forget "Angels?" Even if you sing about God, it's a sin if you do it rock'n'roll-style. I love "We're gonna ROCK ROCK ROCK with the ROCK!" and Satan's incredibly obvious pseudonym. The recent one with the vampires (complete with Chick's young female author avatar turning undead D&D style) is funny as well. Speaking of D&D, of course "Dark Dungeons" is a classic: The ones about the Jews are strange. On the one hand we have "Love the Jewish People" which goes on about how much God loves the Jews and people who screw them over get shafted from on high, but on the other we have "Where's Rabbi Waxman" where we see that Jews go to Hell. Is he trying the good tract bad tract approach to converting the Jews? "Lisa" is repugnant. Reading it made me feel physically sick.

It was on TV a few weeks ago that some people wanted a person fired from her job on CBBC because she hadd been born with one arm. I suspect the same group are part of those kicking off over this. Whaaaaat? I must have missed this one. Dare I even ask what reason they had for wanting the BBC to break the law?EDIT: Done a bit more research. Even the Daily Fail readers think they're full of shit! This Link, though, is a veritable FSTDT of TV Complaints. Speak you're Branes is awesome. Loved this: The Fahrenheit scale is no more English than Celsius, you utter moron. You want an English temperature scale on the weather forecast, ask them to report in Kelvin.

The anti-terror laws went down like a lead balloon over here, regardless (generally) of what political affiliations people have. Until someone can come up with a sound argument for why Britain is under any more threat now than during the 30 years the IRA and related groups were active, I'm not going to be convinced of the need for new anti-terror laws. And disgruntledcolonel's link shows us how easy they are to abuse - there's no way that guy's pic of a police van running a no-entry sign (which they can do, but only in emergencies, signified by the lights and siren being on) could have been useful to terrorists, the policeman was just covering his arse from potential disciplinary action.

"The Light" by the Proclaimers: Not so much anti-religious as anti-a particular kind of religious - the kind we call "fundie" in these parts.

The stories I could tell of my days at York... thankfully, computer peripherals (especially communal ones) weren't involved at any point. I particularly enjoyed sharing that story with the compuslively clean friends of mine, after we'd been in the lab an hour or so. ... Now I'm imagining how Hanners from Questionable Content would react to the revelation.

You forgot "boxism", whose central tenet involves the worship of cardboard boxes. And Mondays being sacred. It was invented by a colleague at sixth form who figured that the college's rules on freedom of religion would allow us to take Mondays off if we wanted. This loophole was very rapidly closed.

Before I fall into the same trap as that darck guy, I'd like to say he said a lot of stupid shit but all you did in return for the most par5t was "WOODEN SUBMARINE LOL" and "TRANSFORMER PORN LOL" What is it with fundies and Transformer porn? The resident fundie on another board I used to visit was something of a fan of that dubious pursuit as well. I know you're not her because she at least had a decent grasp of English. In stark contrast to the following: so that's it? Im an asshole, pretty much like a good part of you, like your little worship figure, but the thing seperating us is post count and opinion so Im a troll Do you really have all that intelligence you brag about? Considering I haven't seen a single FSTDT post (granted, I hadn't been on the old forums since 2004) going HEY LOOK AT ME I'M A GENIUS!!!111one!, how valid is this question? Translation: "I was too dumb to get into uni so the people who weren't suck." Vive la France! Oh joy, internet psychoanalysis. Everything and everyone is the laughing stock of half the internet. The other half is porn. The politics board is that way. I don't know what the phonetic accent in that pseudo-quote was supposed to be, but it sure as hell doesn't look French. [citation needed]
