It's a complex issue that can't really be reduced to soundbites, it's true, though I do believe "ones and zeroes" to be a lot closer to the mark than "piracy = theft". I think as much as anything was rage at anyone thinking that this was a proper response to an unlicensed download.

It's about where I usually fall.

There's something very depressing about the commenter finding the idea of unlicensed downloading being theft (of what from whom? You're just rearranging a few magnetic poles on a hard drive!) easier to grasp than the idea of it being wrong to physically abuse your family.

Jesus Christ... ...I am so frickin' glad for HECS-HELP/FEE-HELP in Australia: deferred payment until you make a certain amount of money. Likewise SLC in the UK, though they do charge some interest.

3. Encouraging theft to have the money to donate What the... I just... no. "Thou shalt not steal" is about as unambiguous as the Bible gets!

I agree with that. I also think that if prayer is to be held, it would be with all 3 major faiths(judaism, christianity, and islam), but as that won't happen, better to have none. I'd go further and say that if there are to be religious elements at a 9/11 memorial then the religious affiliations of all the victims should be represented, but of course that's even more impractical.

I think those are a tad higher than the original system requirements. I'm between games at the moment, so I reckon it's time for a little nostalgia trip.

System 32 basically contains most of your vital computer files. Deleting that would be as effective as going to c:\ and typing "format all" or whatever the command is. As I understand, Windows 7 is idiot-proof in that respect in that the only way to reformat the hard drive it's installed on is to boot from a Windows disc. Whether it guards against people trying to delete System32 in the same way is something I have no desire to test.

GOG has Witcher 2 for 40% off this weekend. I'm trying to decide if I can justify buying it, since my student loans haven't come through yet. (Probably next week on those) I know it's too late for you to take advantage of the offer if you haven't already, but even full price it's well worth getting if you've got the hardware.

If it's only 3D games that are causing the problem then 99% it's a graphics card issue, but if it's not the fans I don't know what to suggest short of replacing it completely. OT: where does your signature image come from?

Gah stupid computer. Fucking hard locks on 3D games. Now I cant play Rome Total War. Your graphics card might be overheating. Check the fans: make sure they work and aren't blocked with dust.

Um....because it isn't "burning" in the sense that you are thinking of? "Nuclear fusion" and "combustion" are not the same processes. The former does not require oxygen, merely energy. It reminds me of the anti-Big Bang argument, "there would be no match to explode it".
