I don't know if anyone else has heard the news, but I feel it needs to be seen on an international level.
Short story, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel peace prize winner invited fellow Nobel peace prize winner the Dalai Lama to his 80th birthday. After a fruitless 5 weeks of waiting the Dalai Lama had to cancel his travel plans because the Government had not granted him a visa in time. The main reason for not granting a visa is of course international pressure from china which was also the reason why the Dalai Lama was denied entry into the country in 2009.

International News: BBC news on the cancellation
For interest, this is the governments response:
Local News: Claim that he 'would have received a visa'
Local News: Response from government towards Tutu
Personally this angers me greatly. The nasty things Tutu says about the government is pretty accurate. They are in the process of bleeding the country dry through extreme corruption, wastage and mismanagement. (I keep a list of things that appear in the media about government wastage. It is about 1 month old and has well over 4Billion in wasted/ stolen funds) The Minister of police is indicated in a corruption scam totaling 2.1Billion and is not only not in prison but still has his job. The government is also trying to push through an information secrecy bill, that will result in reporters who publish what government gets up to being sent to prison for 15 years. Recently the President appointed to chief justice the least qualified and most questionable person to be in charge of the highest court in the country despite there being obviously more capable candidates available. The previous independent organization against organized crime and corruption was dissolved and another unit under control of the government was created in its place. Oh and one last thing they are going to court to defend the singing of a song that incites hate speech specifically the shooting of white farmers.
Despite the UN celebrating the ANC's 80th birthday and claiming that they are on the forefront of the fight for freedom, I would like to point out that this is not true. They are an oppressive regime that openly flaunts their power. There is one set of laws for them and one set of laws for everyone else. Example: ANC man shoots at a robber, misses and kills a child by accident, received no punishment. A man who accidentally spilled his drink on the president was sentenced to 5 years. The police that pulled a ministers car over for speeding and driving recklessly have been taken to court. (after loosing their jobs of course) Ministers bodyguards shoot at civilian vehicles that don't get out of the way fast enough when they travel in a motorcade. The convicted fraudster accountant of the president was given medical parole and currently enjoys playing golf and beating up reporters.
This turned into a much longer post than I was intending, but I just feel that the international world really needs to learn the truth about our current government. The international community, and people like the Dalai Lama, helped overthrow the previous oppressive government. Hopefully something can be done about the current oppressive government.
