Yeah... "kaffir" is something they say in South Africa and Zimbabwe. From what I've heard, it's an even bigger slur than "nigger". (It literally means "infidel".)
And yes, Gandhi was a massive hypocrite. Why do we revere him, again?

Because he promoted non-violence against everyone...except them damn, dirty blacks. Course, let's not get all holier-than-thou. Remember, while Gandhi was hating on the African brothas, the KKK were the -heroes- of the hit film, Birth of a Nation. So, yeah. The old days sucked.

I've never really heard it be referred to as "New Model" though, at least not in recent times... Give the government enough time and it will.... Of course, they'll act as though they thought of it first: Politicians rarely change. |

( link 1 - link 2) Not to undermine your (rather interesting, actually) points, but there's a lot of things you can do to land you on the sexual offenders list, such as peeing on the side of the road because the next bathroom is a gazillion miles away. |

"Why, of all places in Johannesburg, the Indian location should be chosen for dumping down all kaffirs of the town, passes my comprehension. Of course, under my suggestion, the Town Council must withdraw the Kaffirs from the Location. About this mixing of the Kaffirs with the Indians I must confess I feel most strongly. I think it is very unfair to the Indian population, and it is an undue tax on even the proverbial patience of my countrymen. " Okay, not violent...but he did NOT like native Africans. Hence, him repeatedly referring to them as "kaffirs," whose closest English equivalent, as has been pointed out, is "nigger." |

Apartheid ended what, decades ago? And yet there is still racial violence? Clearly neither side is capable of seeing past superficial skin color, which is why I have no sympathy for you. Yep Apartheid ended decades ago, and instead of the ANC government actually fixing the problem they actively promote racial hatred[1][2] and have WIDENED the gap between rich and poor.[3] The ANC government has been in power for 17 years and Apartheid abolished for more than 20. There are students finishing school with barely a 35% total who have known nothing but the ANC led government. What makes this more depressing is that there are entire provinces with 0% pass rates, That means no one in the school passed.[4] People love throwing out the unemployment stats, but there is a serious job problem in this country.[5] Contrary to popular belief you cant put the people who passed with 35% in charge of large companies, especially not things like mines. [6] Apartheid was repealed in 1990. I was 5 at the time. In 1994 the first democratic elections took place in which the ANC won power. I was 9 when that happened. I didn't even know the word apartheid then. However I will agree, I benefited, just like Desmond Tutu, a man i respect said.[7] I went to a good school and got a good education. This allowed me to get a good job. I am no more responsible for apartheid than any American is for the near genocide of the native Americans. Even though both of us have clearly benefited. Though i doubt you would believe me, I would actually prefer my tax money to actually help those who did suffer under apartheid. Instead it is being flushed down the toilet by the government, helping no one but their own elitist asses. (Here is an example. Municipal wastage, visisting girlfriend in prison, Car rental for Zumas wives and Suspended on full pay. I pay a fair amount of tax, but even if I paid all my money as tax, I would not even get close to the amount of money wasted in just these examples in my lifetime) Well someone is clearly misinformed about the current political climate. Here is the example of farmers not wanting to farm [8] Black farmers reselling land to whites. I live here, I know what I am talking about. A large number of the farms given to blacks are unproductive.[9] However despite this, the ANC youth are singing about killing the boers[farmers] and demanding land be taken without compensation. They also want to nationalize the mines without compensation, and the banks. [10] If you follow the citation, you will see that some of the things they are asking for are quite reasonable. These are things that should have been provided already. Clean water and sanitation have never been lower.[11][12] The people have been striking for service delivery which is near non existent.[13][14][15][16] Currently that "K-word" is paramount to hate speech and results in a fine if even said casually. I will admit, there are many very racist white people who still use it, although that is exclusively in private. I just object strongly when the political leaders of this country call 5 million people in the country thieves and rapists at a political rally.[17] This is not just black people calling whites nasty names. This is from the mouths of the political leaders of the country, the people in charge, the people who also protect the chanting of a song calling for the killing of white farmers.[18] I would gain nothing with the reinstatement of apartheid. In fact, even thinking anyone would want that system back is as ignorant as the people who vote for a government that actively oppresses them out of a fear that the evil white man will make apartheid again. Hell I could say that you would have a lot to gain by having the Jim Crow laws enacted again and you would be just as disgusted at the notion. In the 17 years that the ANC government has been in power that have had more than enough opportunity to turn this country and its oppressed people around. Why then, has the gap between wealthy and poor widened? Why are the poor people protesting for the very basic of services like running water and sanitation? Why will 50% of those aged 18 to 25 never be employed? Why is it that government officials get away with murder (ok I will be fair manslaughter)[19] but someone who spills a drink near the president has trouble getting bail?[20] So yes I am pretty pissed. I am pissed at how the ANC is oppressing the poor more than ever, yet I am getting the blame for it. I am pissed at how the ANC government whips its supporters into a frenzy with false promises of jobs, money and services to win elections, fails to deliver anything, and then has the cheek to blame the whites for their failures. I am angry that despite having the means to do so, the ANC keeps the poor oppressed and uneducated so that they can remain in power and oppress everyone some more. Okay Sylvana. I forgot to point out that had we been having this conversation in the 1950s, I would be this vitriolic against the Germans, and had this conversation been in the 1870s, I would be just as vitriolic against the former Confederates. Maybe in a century or so South Africa will have its affairs in order, but that seems just as unlikely as fundies ceasing to be mainstream in the United States.
