... shit, I can make both myself and my roommate live on less than that for a week. With change to spare.

I know a mate of mine managed to survive on £5 ($8) a week for a month or so.

it's hamburger helper here. Chicken's even cheaper. Combine that with cheap rice and pasta and you can eat pretty damn well for a good while.

We practically live off of hamburger helper and other such cheap meals... When it's not hamburger/chicken helper, it's usually spaghetti, home made macaroni and cheese (cheaper than you'd think), chili soup, a casserole of some sort, or sloppy joes.

What is he trying to prove? That he understands the poor or some shit like that. Meanwhile, he's successfully proving the sheer opposite.

EAT ALL THE RAMEN EVERY MEAL! Fox News: “But how poor are they? They have Ramen noodles every meal. They can’t be that poor. Plus, they also have refrigerators.”

How the fuck is a refrigerator not a necessity? I've heard some dumbasses actually use that as a serious example.
Next thing you know, they'll tell us that we couldn't possibly be suffering because we have the wonderful luxury of indoor plumbing.

Next thing you know, they'll tell us that we couldn't possibly be suffering because we have the wonderful luxury of indoor plumbing. They probably will, too. It's the idea that if you've had your leg broken by a giant rock, you shouldn't complain because someone else had both of his legs broken by a giant boulder. It's nonsensical.

Homemade baked mac and cheese...I think my mom can make a big ass panful (enough to feed 4 starving teens and a husband who eats as much as he can hold of any homemade meal) for maybe...$8, $10? This is, mind you, an industrial pan that's somewhere around 26x18x4 inches. ~1872 cubic inches of deliciousness, good for a week's worth of lunches AND suppers for a single person.
...dammit, now I'm hungry again.
