I saw Episode 4 in a theater, around the time of my fifth birthday (and even then, although I wasn't yet familiar with the word "mercenary", I was still able to grasp the moral implications of Han shooting first). Han totally shot first. I have a t-shirt proclaiming this, which makes it a fact. I see absolutely no reason why it should be a different age for a girl than for a boy. I don't really think any age is too young (show it at conception for bonus geek points!), as some of my earliest memories are watching the original trilogy with my family. Some kids do have more problems with violent scenes or the darker themes scattered throughout, or some might get scared by one of the aliens, so there's always the possibility that them watching it, either partly or all the way through, could cause problems for them (which for some could even turn into nightmares or night terrors). So, just be ready to pause or stop them where ever the individual kid needs, so that they can either calm down and continue watching or just go on to something else to allay their fears. That said, the idea of them just being around while it's playing, especially if in conjunction with Star Wars toys (especially if they show up in the movie being watched) so they can play along to or with inspiration from the films, sounds like a really good way to introduce them to it at the child's own pace. Thanks for your thoughts.
