Reporting from Right Wing Watch, I found what could be the most damming shiny-mirror-shine™ ever created. Regarding over the paranoia that atheists are trying to take the "Christ out of Christmas," Robert Knight appeared on The Janet Mefferd Show, where he discussed his coloum on the Townhall, where he states that not only are atheists "sensitive," because of the things that "reminds" us of our "Christian heritage." He even goes so far as to state that atheists are breaking the 1st Amendment by making atheism the "main religion." Try wrapping your heads around that one. As for the radio program, it doesn't get better. Apart from a church canceling their own services for voluntary community service, and people are upset that they had to help others rather then attend church. Which is a rather ridicules story in in itself (because the selfless thing to do is to prey for your god who can have everything he wants. Helping others is just plain selfish)...er, but I digress. (If any wants to discuss it, make another thread for it.) But the second part has the interview with Knight (the segment starts at 20:33, but the interview starts around 21:13), now I'm not going to give you the whole detail of the interview, that's be spoiling the fun, but the gold bit is around 31:52 (which is what Right Wing Watch points out), where they discuss lawsuits over "establishment of religion with atheism". (My apologize for the shoddiness of my post, I'm multi-tasking.)

Getting ridiculous? This was stupid as soon as someone took offense at "Happy Holidays." Christian, Atheist, Jewish, Hindu, Scientologist, it doesn't matter. The second you decide your group needs to one-up someone else's display simply because you can, you're a fucking idiot, and you've completely missed the point of what the majority of these winter holidays are about. No, city/town halls and courthouses probably shouldn't be hosting nativity scenes, seeing as that's just a hair illegal. But it's not like a lawn ornament is anywhere as damning as the 10 Commandments being displayed outside said courthouse. This shit happens every year and it's getting as old as the Christmas carols the pollute the airwaves and shopping malls all month.

I'm under the personal opinion when someone makes and believes stupid shit like this that they should be bitch slapped repeatedly while tearing their argument to shreds. Debating or pointing out their fuckups never work as they just get more crazy to back up their original crazy. Maybe bitch slapping will do some good

Jesus fuck, it ain't even just the Christians...
My aunt and my half-sister's mother, neither of whom are particularly religious, get arced up over the Happy Holidays vs. Merry Christmas debate and side with the latter. I shut my mouth as I prefer Happy Holidays...

I like how some people get so assmad about anything "politically correct," but it's only unreasonable when everyone ELSE is so hung up on the semantics.

BUT WE HAVE TO DESTROY EVERYTHING THAT'S HARMFUL TO GOD WHETHER IT REALLY IS OR NOT! You athiests just don't understand. We don't have time for all that hippy bs about helping people. Alabastor Republican Commando Terminator Super-Ultra-Mega-Bunker-Buster Jesus demands we do what our conservative handlers ... ...Ok, I can't do this, the stupid hurts too much. I want to beat the fucking shit out of them for being so selfish and thoughtless.

Can't we all just say whatever the fuck we want and leave it at that? The Christians can say merry Christmas, the Jews can say happy Hanukkah, the pagans/wiccans/whatevers can say merry fairy worship ceremony or whatever it is they do, the political correctness hippies can say happy holidays and best of all, everyone can shut the fuck up about everyone else's solstice (whichever it is in your neck of the woods) themed greeting of choice and we can all get on with our lives without hearing about this drivel.
Good god people, there's a huge selection of things that actually matter to get riled up about. Why all this bullshit over people's chosen acknowledgements of the general time of year?

I just prefer "Happy Holidays" because it's applicable to EVERYONE who celebrates a/some holiday(s) on or around the winter solstice. It's more inclusive and less indicative of a culture that clings rigidly to the idea that we're a KRISHTUN NASHUN and all that bullshit.
Assuming, of course, that the nonsense primarily centers around idiot American fundies, as opposed to all fundies at large.

I just think it's more polite to say "Happy Holidays." Unless you're their friend, you don't know what their religious beliefs are just by looking at them. I'm not a stickler about it, but if someone says "Merry Christmas" by accident I just politely correct them.

Can't we all just say whatever the fuck we want and leave it at that? You can say whatever you want. The only people that ever try to really “enforce” Happy Holidays are the people in charge of organizations that for one reason or another need a more inclusive greeting.

These idiots don't even know what the word "religion" means, do they? Of course they do. It means "Anything we don't like, and definitely not Christianity since it's a Relationship With God(tm)." In other news, I celebrate Christmas. Fundies, on the other hand, appear to celebrate CHRISTmas, the main tradition of which involves yelling at people who wish to remain religiously-neutral.
