I'm surprised that fundies don't rabidly support abortion rights on the grounds that it might prevent future homosexuals. (I support abortion rights because it might prevent future fundies! ) Frankly, the funniest part to me about the whole argument is the fact that homosexuals are adopting a lot of otherwise-unwanted babies. So abortion prevents gay parents, too. If the fundies only knew... Then there's the fact that our economy's gone to shit, we may be destroying the planet with greenhouse gases, and everyone else basically hates the US because of our abysmal foreign policy, but all fundies seem to think about is how to ban abortion and homosexuality--preferably both at once. Because if the US ceases to exist, what America's laws were about abortion and gay marriage will still be SO important...

Smells like a conspiracy theory to me. People just believe silly things. There's no reason to think that they're being intentionally misled by anyone. Sniff again. There's plenty of reason to believe they're intentionally being mislead/misleading others. The Christianists - here differentiated from average Christians who don't bear false witness with every breath - are adept and compulsive liars. In fact, they lie so god-damned much that anytime you hear anything come out of their mouths that may sound even a bit fishy, further investigation will always - that's right; I said always - reveal half-truths, misquotes, and giant fibs. They have workbooks dedicated to the art of rhetorical bullshit.

They have workbooks dedicated to the art of rhetorical bullshit. I came to the conclusion that everything out of a Republican's mouth is bullshit until proven otherwise. But the question is, are they actively malicious or just fucking stupid? I think it's the latter. (Except for Republican politicos. I think they know the stuff they pass on to their far-right supporters is bullshit, but don't really care as long as it gets them elected.) And it's a little unfair to call them on handbooks that most of them probably haven't read. I remember RR getting their collective panties in a twist a while back over a left-wing instruction booklet called Rules for Radicals or somesuch.
