www.instituteforhumancontinuity.org/#/homeSeriously, what the fuck is this shit? They have this commercial about the end of the world in 2012 that "the Mayan calandar predicts, & science confirms." Harley thinks it's a movie. I think it's a scam. But the question remains.

Yeah, it's just for a movie.
But it probably doesn't help with all the paranoid people out there.

Looks like it's a viral site for the movie 2012. Shittiest ad I've ever seen. Bet I won't like the movie, either.

The trailer I saw (before District 9, I think) made me think it looks like it would be a good action movie if it wasn't full of pseudoscientific rubbish. ARGH, pseudoscience makes me grumpy.

I wish the movie was cut like this: I was devastated when I realized that was a parody.

Am I the only one who thinks these commercials with an official sounding agency with a funny abreviation never acknowledging its a movie look suspiciously like the commercials for District 9 a month or so ago with an official sounding agency with a funny abbreviation never acknowledging its a movie?
The first thing I thought at seeing those commercials was how pathetic it is to rip off a movie thats still in frickin theaters.

The first time I saw this done was for the video game Perfect Dark back in 2000 with the websites for the Carrington Institute and DataDyne Corporation.

I know its an old cliche, but you dont use the exact same ad campaign as a movie that just came out.

They did this with a couple other video games I've played too, as well as doing "serious" commercials for military memorial stuff back when Halo 3 was coming out.
I think it's the new black in marketing.

The site set up for Portal, aperturescience.com, was pretty rad.

The site set up for Portal, aperturescience.com, was pretty rad. Portal seems like an awesome game. And I'm just saying that from listening to "Still Alive."
