Like I said, it's just a recurring theme. And as I said, I can't "explore these rooms" in the way you want. I cannot call the dreams up on command. The walls/floors generally fit in with whatever house is in the dreams - sometimes the place I actually live, sometimes an invented place. I have no recollection of specifics in any one dream, though they generally are happy and fit with what I like, so either dark wood paneling or jewel tone or earthtone walls, possibly some cream-and-lace or faded wallpapers; old scratched wooden floors or oriental rugs. Because that's what I like. I don't recall ever looking under carpets or at specific books, but no there has never been any symbolism out of a cheap b-movie teen horror flick. The books are usually old leather or fabric and gold leaf numbers. Again, the sorts of things that I like. There are usually windows, and what is outside is whatever's outside the house. Usually my real-life yard (or the actual yard of whatever house I used to live in that is in my dream), or an imaginary yard in the case that it's one of the dreams where I just moved into or am thinking of buying a house or happen to be somewhere that I haven't been before IRL like a vacation or whatever. There's no consistency to the overall plot of the dream I'm having; the finding-extra-rooms thing is just a recurring thematic element. Again, I have no particular recollection of what's outside, but usually it's things I like. Maybe evergreens and bare hardwoods in the snow, or fall leaves, or a quaint city road of old houses. I know I've had one or two where the house was ugly on the outside but totally sweet on the inside. Again, there's no consistency. There's not always windows, as sometimes I find the additional rooms off from a basement, so there wouldn't be windows. I think there may be some where I've found either trapdoors or the bottom of trapdoors (like I went up a ladder and there was an attic that I thought was just storage space, but then I open the bottom, and it's a whole big apartment worth of lovely rooms or something like that), but I don't particularly remember.
I don't remember in any dreams with the extra room element, or really any other that come to mind, my age being different than my current waking age at the time. Sometimes I'm having dreams with very specific settings that have to do with the plot of the dream, so I would be dressed in line with that if that were the case (I don't really remember if any such have overlapped with the extra room dream thing, but I suspect they probably have). Otherwise when I'm having dreams set more or less in "the real world", I usually dress like I do in real life, but in the prettier/more-dressed-up side of things. So usually long flowy skirts or knee-length ruffly skirts. big black boots, lace and velvet, that sort of thing. And fancy socks. I like my fancy socks. Again, just usually in the category of things I like. I have no specific recollections, but in my dreams where my appearance isn't important to the plot of what's going on, I usually just look pretty but about like what I look like in real life.

ok the next time you have a dream like this i want you to if you will to look at the books. one should stand out more than the others or a set of them. I would give a description of what i am looking for but wouldn't want you to think i subliminally made that happen or whatever excuse there would be. remember all that you can with the book or books and with the oriental rug lift it up and see underneath. Also one other thing is there a room with a fireplace? and if so in that room is there a large mirror? if so take one of the fire place tools and break the mirror and tell me what is behind it.
With so many that i work with i can talk with them and get them into there dreams fully awake and discuss all that is in the rooms and where things are. From that i can tell where they need help at in there life. Also pay attention to each dream and look into the mirror and see how old you are. Or even if you look different in each house physically.
There are a lot of hidden things and the house that you go to the most i would guess is the ones you have lived in.
Did you mom ever dress you in old style clothes or is there a picture from the fair of you in old style clothes?
Also what did your mom explain about the demon she seen on you?
