Found this at Ministering Deliverance: www.ministeringdeliverance.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4085Excerpt: (In case you missed it, she also posted comments to FSTDT defending her quotes earlier this month. Do a comment search on the name "Jewels" to read them) Well, we've successfully driven one of the Ministering Deliverance regulars away from the forum. On the one hand, that means we've driven someone away from a potentialy dangerous community that encouraged her to continue believing that her autistic children are possessed by evil spirits. On the other hand, we've driven a probably lonely and definitely troubled woman away from what is probably one of the few places where she can find like-minded individuals willing to give her a positive word. I'm not sure how to feel. Thoughts? As somebody on the autistic spectrum, I hope that this woman is getting proper help for her kids. As for her, there are plenty of Christian churches that aren't batshit crazy and could even give her support for her children.

Well if you post things on the internet were everyone can see them you need to be able to deal with people disagreeing and thinking you are ignorant.

It amuses me that fundies seem to think that the internet is their personal witnessing tool, and make sure to post in fully open accessible boards. But then get all butthurt when others take their quotes and use it to poke fun at them. Personally, I would be more than happy to go around to these websites, for free, and show them how to make them totally private so that their quotes can't be used against them. Of course, they would then also lose the "witnessing tool" that so many of them love....
For the record, I'm not a big fan of joining private areas of boards just to mine quotes....though I will laugh at them. Although I do consider RR to be a special case, since they seem to enjoy doing exactly the same thing here.

If you're going to post your most sacred and personal stuff on places as public as the Internet, then don't maintain any expectation that people aren't going to disagree with you. And if you're a crazy fundie posting crazy fundie things on a fully public web site or forum, then don't cry and whine when you get slapped around by people who are calling you on your stupidity.

If she doesn't want to be gossiped about then she shouldn't be posting on the internet for the whole world to see. She's an idiot and I don't give two shits about her feelings.

I've got a serious problem with groups of any stripe using ill or otherwise hurting people, particularly children, as an "in" through which to peddle unproven, irrational dogma. It's disgusting whoever does it, be it religious nuts, anti-vaxxers, CARM slingers, whoever. As far as it goes, Ministering Deliverance are vultures and drama whores almost to the point of parody. Anyone leaving the toxic fog of false confirmation and witless acceptance there is a good thing, in the long term.
As for losing the like minded people, no-one ever gained a single fucking thing from an echo chamber.

No one on the internet cares about your feelings. The internet is not for posting "sacred and personal stuff" that's what a diary is for. Funny how you can type horrible things about people with autism, but no one can say equally horrible things about you.

Yeah, suppose y'all right. I'm not defending her views or her treatment of her poor kids, mind, I just had the unfortunate feeling that we were helping to screw her up even more. She seems like a genuine lost soul, as opposed to a jerkwad like David J. Stewart or a snake-oil merchant like Jay Bartlett (who also knows that we're laughing at him, and for my money deserves all the ridicule he gets)

As someone who has an autistic child, getting this woman away from that place is definitely a plus.
Praying away demon autism and mentally self flagellating with a vinegar dipped scourge isn't going to cure her child's autism.

Stewart or a snake-oil merchant like Jay Bartlett (who also knows that we're laughing at him, and for my money deserves all the ridicule he gets) I know you're not defending her. Feeling compassion and remorse over possibly having wronged someone is a very good thing to do. However, I think that her being away from a giant circle jerk in which her craziness is lauded and encouraged rather heavily outweighs any emotional damage she may suffer from leaving the community. Also, we're likely giving ourselves far too much credit. Being mocked on another, completely separate site might have contributed to her decision to leave, but it probably wasn't the root cause. And if you read the paragraph below the one you quoted, she has two other places she can go to circle jerk whenever she feels like it. So this whole discussion is rather pointless.

On the one hand, it will be really silent, but at least no one will be offended. As others have said, if you say/write something in a public forum, you have to be willing to accept criticism if/when someone disagrees with you. If you're smart, you'll use that criticism as a tool to examine what it is you've wrote, and possibly improve it/your idea. If you're not, you'll cry persecution and demand everyone be nice to you.
