Oh DV, I'm so sorry. I hope you're doing okay. {{{DV}}} Well, I won't lie--it messed with me pretty hard. I was really spacey last week, just couldn't focus on anything much, if that makes sense. I'm a mentor/teacher, so I know my students better than I ever used to just teaching comp. We're friends-but-not-really. We're more than acquaintances, that's for sure. I know what their hopes and fears are. I know their personalities. I know way too much about them. It's like being a den mother, or something. It's the other students I'm more worried about. He still had close friends here, and he stayed with them a week or so before he died. They seem lost right now. We'll manage, but it's kind of hard to think about your academic essay right now, that's for sure.

((((DV)))) I kind of, but not really, get it. I mean, I realize I can't fully comprehend what you're going through because I'm not. It's great that you can get close to your students, but it sucks when something bad happens. I hope there is somebody you can go to for support. I hope the same is true for his friends.

That makes perfect sense DV. It doesn't matter if it was a student or somebody else you knew it's still a mind fuck when something like this happens. Hope you're feeling better.

My condolences, Katsuro. My friend Kim loved that teacher, too, and was pretty messed-up when the news broke. She was one of the very few people who supported Kim's decision to study hotel management at BIFHE instead of taking her A-levels.

What part of "There's a time and place" don't you fucking understand, you sociopath? For reference: –noun Psychiatry. a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience. You really have no idea why people are pissed at you, do you? Consider this your official warning. Stay the fuck out of this thread if you can't even dredge up a "Sorry for your loss, DV." Nobody asked you to say the guy didn't make a really really stupid decision. Nobody asked you to pretend like the engineer and his family weren't affected by this. Everyone has simply asked you to, you know, have some respect for DV's feelings. Again, this is a formal warning on the whole "dick" thing. You're being one. I invite you to try and argue your case, too. In PM or Flame and Burn. I'd really love to rip someone a new asshole right now. Ahh! The Rapture Ready Method.... When you don't agree with someone, use your "powers" and ban and tell people that having different opinions is not acceptable. Gotcha! FSTDT the new Rapture Ready! That's great! Oh, you don't like being told to behave like others actually have feelings? Well, you can always leave. Just don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. Any further comment on this is to be directed outside this thread. I'm not going to let it get derailed.

/mod hat on.
OK, you all know me. I'm the calm, live-and-let-live mod. I'm the mod who sits back and just quietly keeps an eye on things.
Headache, even I found your posts to be inappropriate. This thread was obviously started by someone who suffered a very personal loss and was turning to the FSTDT community for a bit of empathy. People need that kind of thing when life blows up in their faces at 3 PM on a Thursday.
To respond to a clear expression of a simple need for comfort by chiming in with a handful of salt for the wound is, while not in any way a bannable offense, incredibly dickish, and not worthy behavior of a FSTDT regular. To make such comments about a faceless stranger somewhere out in the world is typical FSTDT...to make such comments about a personal friend of someone on the board just lacks class.
Even if you don't agree with this assessment, please be aware that you have damaged your rep considerably.
/mod hat off

That's great! Seriously, have you ever considered that you're really that much of a dick? I say this as a person not the admin. But you really live up to your damn namesake. Yea, not exactly bright to run on train tracks. We don't need to go into how stupid someone was to do it, as it should be pretty obvious, and doing so has little point other than to belittle the dead. I've been labeled almost everything which starts with something bad and ends with path at some point or another, and you're pegging my 'fucking jackass' meter something that even the most blatant mormon baiting doesn't manage. You've been warned, and it falls well under the don't be a dick clause. If you want to go off about how evil we are, there's a thread in flame and burn you can get it all out. I wasn't kidding when I said I really don't give a shit.

That's too bad. I've never been in your situation, but my dad taught for many years in Worcester, and he says he could fill a classroom with the kids he's outlived- most to traffic accidents, a few drug overdoses, and one or two homicides and suicides.
