with almost any band that I love, I can usually pick an album in the repertoire that signifies a shift from youthful creativity to pandering formulaic derivation
I'm so jaded - there are very few bands that put out more than 3 or 4 good albums imho

Ah, I like the song equally as much as their older stuff. I haven't heard the song in a while, and you've convinced me to give it another shot. I'll let you know how it goes. Have listened to Red? It doesn't sound much like their older stuff, but I like it lot. I've only heard the singles off of Red. Didn't care for Pork and Beans, Troublemaker I thought was ok. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived I like the latter part of the song.

"I Want You Bad" by the Offspring.
EDIT: Actually, most of what was on the "Conspiracy of One" CD with the exception of a couple of songs.

At least you gave it a second chance.

But when I compare that song to, say, "Gotta Get Away" or "Dirty Magic" or even "Hammerhead" it just doesn't hold up. Plus the music video looked like a bad attempt at soft-core porn, what with the foam and all ;D

On paper, Sinead O'Connor singing traditional Irish ballads seems like a slam dunk. On CD, well, not so much. In fact, it borders on painful. She sounds better singing anything else--rock, folk, reggae, country...
I hated the Roots' "Birthday Girl." Men in their late thirties drooling over a barely-legal teenager, plus the guy from Fall Out Boy singing the hook. Class, just class.
Will think of more later.

"Droppin' Plates" by Disturbed. It's like someone turned off Draiman's talent that day or something. Metallica's St. Anger! Not just the song, but the entire album! I mustered all my goodwill and tried to tune myself in to the album. Those are days I'll never get back. One of my e-friends used to be a huge Metallica fan. Back in '03, I asked him, "So, what do you think of St. Anger?" "Well, it's great for target practice..."

The entire "Bedtime for Democracy" album by the Dead Kennedys. I mean, after that they broke up, and as far as I'm concerned, Frankenchrist was their last true album.

Don't Drink the Water by Dave Matthews Band, and I am an avid DMB fan and have seen him concert many times. Don't the like the song live either and they are a great live band. Don't know why I don't like, just don't.

I see what he means, but I'm a collector, and as such I can't stand the idea of not owning their full catalogue. I will keep St. Anger, Load and Reload in my collection.

"Bring Your Daughter...To The Slaughter" - Iron Maiden Horrible lyrics, horrible concept, horrible everything. Actually, the 90s weren't really good for Maiden at all, especially when Bruce left the band. I would rather listen to their current material (which is pretty average, IMO) than their 90s stuff. I heartily agree.

Pretty much the entire "Saint Anger" album by Metallica blew goats. Muddy guitars, asinine lyrics ("Saint Anger 'round my neck?" really?), that hideous performance from Lars Ulrich, and James Hetfield... rapping? Fail.
