Man, that's one good-looking swastika. Looks better than usual, somehow.

Of course, just because something looks better still doesn't mean it looks good.

What gets me are people who rage over any swastika, even when it's the original swastika that more or less meant "peace" (or something along those lines, my memory is fuzzy) before the Nazis co-opted it and tilted it.

I love how people automatically assume that pro-choice = mandatory abortion. Or that everyone who is pro-choice and facing an unwanted pregnancy is going to have an abortion. Way to completely miss the fucking point.

Well, unless you are used to seeing the original version of the symbol and are therefore extremely familiar with the non-Nazi connotations, it is difficult to see anything but a Nazi symbol that just happened to be tilted differently.

Well, www.notatrap.org is pretty lame. It seems to be some sort of Asian infertility medicine.

Alright, fair enough. How about raging over the swastika, period? It's like raging that someone mentions Hitler. Cheapen the hell out of the swastika and out of Hitler's name. Do it. Make it a mockery of what it used to be. Giggle at the ghostie, whatever. It's time to stop being afraid or upset by dead imagery.

Make it a mockery of what it used to be. Giggle at the ghostie, whatever. All depends on the context, really. I’d say there are cases when rage is appropriate. Hitler and the Nazis did some seriously evil things, and they should be treated seriously. Of course, there are times when the de-powering ability of laughter is a good response, too. I watch enough Mel Brooks to know that. I’d say any imagery that can still inspire fear, anger, hatred, or even laughter is far from dead.
