My experience with fundies seems to be that they literally cannot fathom the idea that some people just don't buy in to their bullshit. Ray Comfort wrote an entire book about his idea that atheists believe in God (I'm sure it makes sense in some alternate reality) and fundies have eagerly lapped it up. They think anyone who doesn't believe in God does so because they're stupid, angry at God, or Evil. The idea that an atheist can be perfectly normal and well-adjusted is anathema, because it shows that people don't actually need God.

Have any of you guys ever stumbled across a Chick tract in real life? I've lived in what I think is a fairly religious conservative area my whole life and have never seen or been handed one. Then again, I went to school in a small town where nearly everyone was Christian, and perhaps nobody thought it was necessary to go around witnessing for Christ.

I used to find them at bus stops in Calgary, here I've had a couple left in my mail box. Sometimes they're so sneaky the dogs don't even hear them. Other times, by the time I get to the door, they're already at the end of the driveway. I find it annoying that they feel they can bother me, but are too scared to deal with any confrontation.

Have any of you guys ever stumbled across a Chick tract in real life? Only once myself. It was left in a newspaper vending machine. Boring tract too, "This Was Your Life." A friend of mine found a much cooler one though, "The Curse of the Baphomet" (an anti-Mason tract).

Then again, I went to school in a small town where nearly everyone was Christian, and perhaps nobody thought it was necessary to go around witnessing for Christ. In my most recent hometown (the one before my current one,) there's a guy who goes around leaving Chick tracts at the barber shop and restaurants. He even hands them out to first-graders. We like to call him "Chickboy" (He also gives me some really fucking creepy pedo vibes. I'm not sure if it's because he's in his forties, still lives at home with his mother, and has NEVER been in a romantic relationship with an adult woman, or because he makes a show of being a member of all these dating sites while loudly proclaiming that none of the women are "Christian" enough for him, or because he once claimed that children should always do what any adult tells them to, even if it goes against something their parents have taught them/is something they've been taught is wrong, because children must always obey adults... or... yeah... )

I used to see them occasionally, placed mostly in public toilets. I found that quite appropriate in the event there wasn't any tissue available. I haven't seen any in several years, though.

I used to see them all the time in South Mississippi although I haven't seem too many in the last couple of years.
At the hotel I work at there are constantly stacks of Chick Tracts, Watchtowers, and Oxford Capacity Analysis pamphlets to be thrown out. I finally ran into the Chick Tract lady and told her she could save her paper because they were just being trashed. She proceeded to leave them on people's cars that morning.

It forgot to mention that the grandfather was a convicted paedophile who was hanging out at the library looking for prey when his granddaughter turned up.

I finally ran into one on a bus. It was left behind on the seat. I meant to burn it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Just a "this was your life" tract, but it was my first, so I felt special. ^-^

Believe me, I've tried They're made out of fire-retardant paper or something - it took an hour just to reduce one pamphlet to ashes (though I had slightly better luck when I tore the pages of a second tract up...)
