Would it make anyone here feel old if I told you that the first Toy Story came out when I was 2 years old? Just a tad. I was around 8 or 9 when it came out. Yeah, it has me reminiscing over The Matrix. Haha, no. The Little Mermaid, Home Alone and T2, now those bring back childhood memories. The thing that really makes me nostalgic, however, is the fact that I remember the days -- six golden years -- when there were no crappy sequels to The Land Before Time (freaking 12 of them -- WTF). Good times. Trust me, youngins, the horrible singing dinosaur films you had to endure as young kids? They don't even count as the same series, as far as I'm concerned. The original is where it's at... with NO singing, and none of that light, fluffy Disney crap that infested the sequels. Edit: Also, anyone remember The Monster Squad? That was my favourite movie when I was little. "Wolfman's got nards!"

However, for the ultimate dinosaur stroll down memory lane, gotta be Jurrasic Park.

It definitely deserves to be in theatres. Such a good movie. I still get all choked up when Little Foot's mom dies. Of course, it becomes infinitely more depressing when you find out what happened to the girl who voiced Ducky.

WHEN DID I GET SO OLD? re:Judith Barsi's fate: ...shit...see, that's the kind of bullshit I always get afraid of when it comes to child actors. And the music quote on her tombstone...that song sends me into sobbing every fucking time I hear it.

For anyone else who has googled it, and Fiona, since I assume you are lurking, THIS IS PRECISELY WHY I GET THE SHITS WHEN SOMEONE EXPECTS TO BE GIVEN A FREE PASS ON BEATING UP HIS OR HER SPOUSE!

I agree, but I don't think we should be bringing any of that up outside of its F&B thread. Just sayin'. She was born in 1994! I officially feel old. And dirty. Hell, records were already becoming obsolete when I was born, and had been replaced by cassette tapes by the time I was old enough to operate a music player, yet even I know how to use record players. Turn the clicker thing on, lift that l-shaped thing, place the needle on the outside edge of the record, accidentally scratch record and wince at the resulting sound, put the L-shaped thing back in position, make sure it's not set to an RPM that plays too slowly or too quickly, push the clicker then over to "play" and let it snap back, enjoy music, then get bored and set to higher RPM.

But I had simply upgraded sound systems to the point I no longer had the means to play them, at all. Wow... even THAT was about 8 years ago!

I was pretty young, but I remember my dad going to the library and getting records. Then he'd copy them and bring them back. Of course, our car (one car back in those days) was an old Malibu and had an AM/FM radio. Me and some friends were talking a little while ago (to put some perspective, we are all in our early thirties). I was a bit sad to realize no shy, nervous, awkward young man is ever going to give one of my daughters a mixed tape. Seems kind of sad. Now-a-days, I guess it's going to be more like download this file.
