Things are heating up in New York on the issue of marriage equality. The pro-equality side has 31 confirmed YEA votes in the Senate (29 out of 30 Democrats and 2 out of 32 Republicans). One more vote is needed to pass.
The Senate Republicans have now entered their fourth hour of closed deliberations regarding if and when to bring the issue to a vote, and if a 32nd vote (or more) can be found.
Also, the Assembly will be voting on the marriage equality legislation today. It is expected to pass, but let's not take anything for granted.
If you are a New York resident, please call your Senator and Assemblyperson NOW!

Calling my Senator is a waste of time, he's a repug, and only cares about himself...

Just do it! Maybe enough calls can persuade him. Many Republicans are on the fence and some have switched from a "No" to "Undecided."
The Assembly is currently debating the bill.

My locals seem to be backing it without being pestered, which is always a good start.
Edit: And as a note, one is a republican, first one to leave lock step(finally, I was considering walking down to his office and harranging him over it, as it's within walking distance) over it.

While yes it skirts close to violating separation of church and state, I personally don't think churches should be able to be sued for declining to wed two gay people. Then again, most gay people wouldn't go to those churches anyway.
