Stabilize Afghanistan? Like the British did at the height of their empire, or the Russians with all the advantages of modern military technology? Folks, they don't want to be stabilized. They've been living with warlords and religious whackos throughout their entire history. They like it. They get testy when you try to change it. And it's none of our goddamned business.

There's something I could say here but I won't. I'll think it. But I won't say it. But seriously, why the hell is this even relevant here? A soldier died. Big whoop. I'm sorry for his family's loss but he knew the risks when he signed up. Unless you're on a base somewhere in your home country, there's a very good possibility you're gonna die. No matter what your role is, if you're in a warzone, you're gonna have people trying to kill you. It's life. It's how it is. Ironbite-mourn, go through the process, move on. The death of this one soldier is the point of the thread. And to some people that is a big whoop. Yes he knew the risks when he signed up, doesn't mean you have to be rude about it.
