msmagazine.com/blog/blog/2011/07/06/obama-administration-says-marriage-is-between-a-woman-and-a-woman/The Department of Justice is admitting that DOMA denies LGBT couples equal rights because it gives only heterosexual couples the benefits of marriage thus making it a special right (So much for Freepers claim that LGBT people are the ones demanding special rights). Furthermore I like that they admit this: Finally, they admit that "our holy book of choice says your icky" is not a valid reason to to have discriminatory legislation. If anything, basing legistlation on that alone makes it a violation of the First Amendment. Ya think?

Woah there, Ironbite. Just because they admit it's a problem doesn't mean they'll fix it anytime soon.
Just look at all the other problems that haven't been fixed yet.

Now fix it. Ironbite-you admitted the problem, now fix it. The DOJ can't. It's federal law, so only Congress can repeal it. The best the DOJ can do is not defend it when it is challenged in court.

the gov't admitting it was wrong? holy shit. Admitting a mistake is nothing but a sign of weakness in the american Government. Someone just lost the next election.

I have to say, this administration (overall) is fairly brave. Stating something like this just as the campaigns get started could very well mean they all end up out of a job. But that hasn't really stopped them. It's almost as if they finally realized that they represent ALL of the people, so they may have to do things that either or both sides don't like occasionally.
Just sayin...
