Terrorist Attacks in Norway

A huge explosion damaged government buildings in central Oslo on Friday, injuring several people, a Reuters witness said.

The blast blew out most windows on the 17-story building housing Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's office, as well as nearby buildings including the oil ministry, which was on fire.

Reuters correspondent Walter Gibbs said he counted at least eight injured people.

The cause of the blast was unknown but the tangled wreckage of a car was outside one building. Police and fire officials declined comment on the cause.

A Twitter user, @chaglen, posted what was purported to be a photo of people gathering down the street form the blast.

Tom Erik Sundbye said in a tweet that he was just over 4 miles away and "my office building was shaking."

Craig Barnes, a British man who was in the center of Oslo when the blast happened, told the U.K.'s Sky News that he had "put my foot down" on the accelerator of the car and got to a friend's house.

"It's absolute chaos, there are many people injured," he told Sky.

"There's debris over at least half a kilometer ... total chaos," Barnes added. "It's absolutely mad."

Yeah, a a guy came to a political party's youth camp and claimed to be a police doing a routine inspection due to the bomb attack. He then opened fire at the campers with an automatic weapon. There were at least four confirmed deaths. The shooter is described as tall and blonde.

Oh, and there have been seven confirmed deaths now in the bombing. They are still searching for more.

Tall and blond, and speaking Norwegian fluently, otherwise he couldn't pose as a policeman. He might not be connected to the bombing in Oslo. Then again, he might.

Last I heard, one man is arrested, and his identity is known to the police.
