God damn Rapture Ready. Why do I always give in to the temptation to read their threads about large-scale tragedies? Quote please?

According to the latest from the BBC there may have been a second a shooter. But the confirmed shooter dressed as a police officer and asked everyone to gather together. Being in a group would make them a rather easy target. As would shooting people in the back as they fled. He was even shooting people as they tried to swim away. I gave my highly disturbing theory and hoped it was a flight of fancy. What's your take? I don't feel comfortable speculating. I was just trying to give info.

Quote please? rr-bb.com/showthread.php?164151-Norway-s-Terror-Not-a-TerroristMultiple quotes. There's the usual crap about Muslims, but also a few "herp I heard that someone in Norway is pro-Palestine derp" bits. Even the title pisses me off.

Yes, the title. Don't you know all terrorists are muslims? Of course, he's not a "true christian" either, and according to one post there, neo-nazis can't be christians.

Interchangable Denmark/Norway/Sweden... fucking US-centric pricks.Which would be different to your previous 3 pages of knee-jerk Muslim blaming... how?And... THIS lead encased level of closed mindedness is the reason I don't go to RR anymore.

It's always the "I heard *insert public figure here* from *affected country* didn't bend over backwards for Israel one time" comments that bother me the most. What, so your god kills innocent people because one of their countrymen doesn't suck up to Israel? And you're okay with this?

A speech from Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, who works in the bombed building and lost friends at Utøya. His reasoned reaction is admirable:
In his words (more or less, he spoke in Norwegian):
Edit: This speech was given before Breivik was identified as the culprit. Well, I'll be off a few hours. I need to carry on with my life. Today's workout waits.

What, so your god kills innocent people because one of their countrymen doesn't suck up to Israel? And you're okay with this? Yeah... thats annoying too, but it is consistent with their mindset, i.e. that one can be damned by association, and anything that isn't slavish, unquestioning support of Israel is analogous to the Holocaust. Its pathetic, and disgusting, but at least its coherent and consistent. But 2 things I cannot stand, like, I-will-drive-horrible-splintery-wooden-stakes-into-your-eyes-if-I-am-not-restrained can't stand, is hypocrisy (like knee jerk gleefully condemning Islam without checking facts, and then wailing that its unfair, anti-Christian persecution when someone comments on the guy being a Christian) and willful ignorance, like being so blissfully insular and blase about everything outside your own pathetic tiny sphere of experience that you not only don't know the difference between Denmark, Norway and Sweden, but seem obtusely proud of the fact. Sorry for the rant.

I've seen far, far worse in regards to ignorance about other nations. I once came across someone who (and you and I can both appreciate just how ridiculous of a mix-up this is) confused Canada with Australia. She wasn't joking, either. Later, I found out that this mix-up is actually not all that uncommon. WTF mate, eh?

How the hell does one mix up Australia and Canada?

The depths of ignorance, atrocity, the sheer disregard for the lives and rights of others and most of all the twisted pride I've seen people take in all three of these things today will haunt many nightmares to come.
I just hope I don't see the future in them.

How the hell does one mix up Australia and Canada? Dunno. Both are rich, first world, English-speaking, former British colonies that fucked over their native populations and aren't the US? Beyond that, I'm stumped.

Beyond that, I'm stumped. It's because you're all English. ALL OF YOU. For my own happiness, I intend to interpret such confusion as indicative of a sort of universalism, a human brotherhood, a noble view that all Commonwealth nations, regardless of hemisphere, population, or politics, are America's hat.
