That's a little unfair to parents with kids. My parents never went anywhere without us, because they wanted us to be raised by them, not a babysitter.

As a parent I have to say that I have no problems with Restaurants banning kids. As long as you know they aren't allowed, there are plenty of places that cater for kids. The only time this would ever be a problem is when you are on holidays and can't eat at home.

They have every right to do this, but I think a "zero-tolerance for misbehaving children" policy would be better. It wouldn't assume that every child under six will definitely misbehave.
If I ran a restaurant, my policy would be: someone coming in with a child under six would have to pay for their meal just after ordering. They get one warning if their child misbehaves. The second time their child misbehaves, their food is promptly cleared from the table, put into take-out containers, and they are sent on their merry way.

Although I agree with this, I would have to say that it's safer not to have them in the first place. And although I am a parent, I can respect their rules and really don't have a problem as (someone else had mentioned) there are plenty of places that do cater to families.

Or eat at the restaurant at the hotel if they offer one. Other than that you still have plenty of fast food joints that cater to kids.

I wish a restaurant around here banned children. I hate eating next to families where the parent's are babytalking their children, yelling at them or the kids are crying/screaming/yelling. I work in a large retail store and have to listen to people's children all the time, I want to be able to go out in public without having to raise my voice in order to be heard over annoying crotchspawn.
Yes, I am a child hater, how could you tell?

That's a little unfair to parents with kids. My parents never went anywhere without us, because they wanted us to be raised by them, not a babysitter. Depends. If this ever gets to be a majorthing, I'm against it. However, one or two restaurants closing their doors to parents bringing kids in is hardly a problem to me. I'm sure your parents simply would have found another place to eat. My parents usually took me to places with child-friendly atmospheres, even if not actually "kiddy" locales (Which they didn't really take me to, unless you count the fact McDonalds had happy meals and a slide).

What if it is the restaurant hotel that doesn't allow kids? You may not know your way around enough to find somewhere or you may just be too tired having spent the day/ night travelling. Anyway as I said that is the only circumstance where it 'may ever' be a problem. But as I said I really don't have a problem with it.
