Nope.
Now, quotes!
Sorry, but I have to say that your logic doesn't really add up. Really, none of those are necessitated from Kenpachi learning his release.
On the opinion side, I don't see how there's more "mystique" to being a one note character who never loses to anyone but the protagonist and abandoning one of your few development hooks.
If the short story in Unmasked takes place after the Arrancar Arc, oh yeah, he's dead.
As for character, eh, I could take him or leave him. I was more fond of Aizen, Tosen, & Ulquiorra.

I say that him not releasing and still being stupid strong is more interesting than him releasing this supposedly unstoppable power than blows everything away aand then eventually having to shonen upgrade to another unstoppable power level.
at least as is there's the feeling of 'oh shit this guy could destroy all of us.'

Ulqui got more character development by the very nature of his character, since his aspect of death was nihilism and he was the Arrancar who got the most screen time. (speaking of.. is anybody else sad Kubo killed off Luppi after just one battle? I'd have liked to see more from his character).
Really I just liked that Gin's bankai was like.. 3 things all at once and that we never really "got" his character until his death scene. I haven't really read "Unmasked" so I wouldn't know what happens, all I know is they showed him "dying off screen" and Rangiku half confirming it.

I started reading Full Metal Panic, but I quit after a few chapters. It was just an excuse to be able to mix awesome futuristic military technology with high school hijinks (YMMV of course).

well, that's basically what it is. Haven't read the manga, but the anime is funny as hell, especially fumoffu

I think that's what makes Kenpachi more appealing than, say, Byakuya. His power is because of his own ability and training, it doesn't need to be supplemented by shikai/bankai. Remember, this is the guy who killed an espada just by swapping fighting styles, that's like killing a captain-level shinigami by-oh, wait...he already did that.

But that is not necessitated by him activating Bankai. Unmasked is woefully undertranslated. But here ya go: athakra.livejournal.com/1009.htmlThis person has basically all of what has been translated, spread across 3 links. There's what's basically a horoscope game; a short story that covers what happened after Ichigo passed out as well as the fates of the last few Espda, Ulquiorra's "backstory," a conversation between Rangiku & Izuru about Gin, attack names, & descriptions of Arrancar & their abilities.

That was Sergeant Sosuke Sagara turning a wimpy rugby team into a psychopathic rugby team by quoting Full Metal Jacket.

Not even remotely, but the rest of it is just as funny, when it isn't a giant robot show.
