...Again? Dude, seriously? Hot off the presses, before they were just talking about it, but in labors' continuing desperate attempt to do ANYTHING to draw attention away from the economy, assylum seekers, the carbon tax, and all the other stuff they have fucked up since Ronald McDonald sleazed into power, now they've rammed this through. There was SUPPOSED to be a big viability study, but apparently Gillards approval rating (HA!) is more important than defence of the realm.

...Again? Dude, seriously? Hot of he presses, before they were just talking about it, but in labors' continuing desperate attempt to do ANYTHING to draw attention away from the economy, assylum seekers, the carbon tax, and all the other stuff they have fucked up since Ronald McDonald sleazed into power, now they've rammed this through. There was SUPPOSED to be a big viability study, but apparently Gillards approval rating (HA!) is more important than defence of the realm. Apparently Tony Abbot has fraped your computer. But, to take it point by point. The government's great triumph is the unmatched strength of the Australian economy. We have, as attested to by numerous studies including one that came out just last week, the strongest economy in the developed work. The opposition media has been forced to invent pretend scandals like the BER thingy and the roof-insulation thing, neither of which were remotely scandalous. The government has certainly screwed up asylum seekers, as has the last and the one before that. I don't see what they think they're doing, but it's silly and broken. As for the carbon tax, it's pretty good legislation as watered-down not-far-enough half-measures go. The government has, for instance, made very sure that virtually nobody will pay a cent for it, which I think is just politics (and bad politics at that). And, of course, the government was elected. That's legitimate. It's not illegitimate to win half of the seats and get two more to back you. It was, in fact, exactly what the opposition was trying to do. And, finally, adding more soldiers is hardly likely to undermine the 'defence of the realm'. Particularly when we have no major, serious, non-nuclear threats.

So... Indonesia? Nah, they're piss-weak, we'd beat the shit out of them with one hand tied behind our back. Singapore? Well, they're allied to us and dependent on the US. Malaysia, same deal. I suppose New Zealand might try something, but... yeah.
Fiji?

I do believe this thread counts as necromancy. We already talked about this, we already argued with the troll, let's not have events play out twice.

I do believe this thread counts as necromancy. Not really, but I have to say there's little that amuses me more than watching your typical professing alpha male get his panties in a twist over women or gays in the military.

Once again, let me state for the record I am very supportive of women in the military, even in combat roles, just not in integrated male and female units.

So does that include mixed "race" units as well? (race is in quotation marks because humans are stupid) Ironbite-truly this shall be very fascinating study in the modern alpha male's mind

Maybe the title of this should be "Australia joins the civilized world."
