Reads to me like the girl was drama-whoring in the vein of the "don't tase me bro" guy. Furthermore, why the fuck would you do this sort of thing without wearing any actual clothes? What, did these people really sit on buses and trains wearing only underwear and a tent while on their way to the protest?

I can attest to this, I wasn't involved but I heard rumors. I feel like we should Occupy Market or something so they lower the prices of the food in the fucking dining halls from 150% more expensive than anything off campus.

I still can't believe they closed your libraries. I mean where do you go for finals week?

When I was in college, there was a church down the street that offered parking for students (which was always abysmal on campus) and opened up tons of space for students to study for finals. There were volunteers who would bring in baked goods and beverages and such for the students. It was pretty cool.
Also the church sign out front had a rainbow icon.

Seems like, of all the things a campus could close, that would be one of the last options. Especially for such a nice place.

Oh by the way, our regent says it's okay to protest but they must set the date and the date for protest is whatever they want it to be (read: never).

Doesn't obeying the rules kinda defeat the point of a protest?

Doesn't obeying the rules kinda defeat the point of a protest? No. What you are thinking of is a riot, or possibly a revolution. Protest is an expression of dissatisfaction to the current situation and the purpose is to make noise and notify people of the agenda/injustice in question. There is no need for it to be violent. Furthermore a protest is not necessarily an illegal one. In many countries people have the right to assembly and the right to free speech and they can therefore express their agenda freely.

Are the occupy protests still going on? The news has been pretty quiet about them during the past two weeks.

From the occupy activists that I've spoken to, it seems as though they're in a sort of recess and re-planning stage.
