If Perry thinks gays shouldn't be in the military because they are sinners, but everyone else is a sinner, does that mean nobody should work in the military?

If Perry thinks gays shouldn't be in the military because they are sinners, but everyone else is a sinner, does that mean nobody should work in the military? Well, some sins are worse than others! Even though sin is sin, some sin in is more sin than other sin, even though sin is sin, so it's all equal, but it really isn't, and-- *logic NUKE*

If Perry thinks gays shouldn't be in the military because they are sinners, but everyone else is a sinner, does that mean nobody should work in the military? Perry is a diehard evangelical. That means he believes that no one is homosexual. All those who practice the homosexual lifestyle are doing so as a deliberate choice and are lying when they say they aren't. It also means he believes that there is a difference between the "sins" people commit due to their "sinful human nature" as a result of the "original sin" corrupting all of humanity for all time and the "sins" people choose to commit all on their own as "deliberate rebellion against god." Therefore gays, who are doing it on purpose even though (in his little mind) they know they should not, are far worse than he is, who only sins on "accident" or because of the "fallen nature of mankind." He deserves "forgiveness" because it's not his "fault." Gays do not deserve the same because it is their "fault." It's a neat little bit of doublethink.

"I'm not going to throw the first stone... but just let me throw the first stone here and say that gays don't belong in the military."
Fuck you Rick.
Grow some balls and either outright claim you're without sin or explain that it's not the first stone and you're just joining in the dogpile somebody else started because all the cool homophobes are doing it (and Jesus is of course down with that).

Basically, if you don't keep it in your pants it's your fault... So people who have fucked/are fucking outside the sanctity of marriage fall under which category? Oh right, it only counts if it is a smallish group that we can marginalize rather than pretty much everybody.

I wonder why Republicans are so ready to pounce on the gays, because it is a sin, but don't care about people who follow another religion, which is a direct violation of the 10 commandments (Well, except Muslims)

I think I must be insanely lucky to have dodged this form of indoctrination. I heard the "it's wrong" argument a couple times, but for the most part people were too chicken to even mention the topic. Most of the brainwashing I have to overcome is sex-related, sure, but it's more of the "you shouldn't stick that there" kind than the "you shouldn't stick that into a member of your same sex" kind.
