For a slightly different idiotic reaction, some genius on another forum suggested that they take the core from the malfunctioning reactors and drop it in the ocean to cool it off. As in, dropping the core in directly, without containment. And yes, they were serious. Right... because the Japanese don't have enough problems already, an actual real life Godzilla attack could only help.
