Yeah, i actually like Steam. You can play things in offline mode, plus you never need to worry about losing discs and can install on any comp you want. i think if other developers learned from Steam about how to handle DRM without making dicks of themselves, people wouldn't be so pissed about it. I don't know, I like the way Sierra used to handle copy-protection: Make one of the plot-required puzzles solvable only if you have the manual. After all, who pirates the manual?

Even the hippiest of the hippies, wearing a tie-dye "Mean People Suck" t-shirt and puffing away on a joint while screaming, "Make love, not war!" at a Grateful Dead concert, will agree that the US was more than justified in getting involved in WWII. So, we should send Paul a joint, a tie-dye kit, and some Grateful Dead albums? Naah, send him some old Jefferson Airplane. It's trippier.

"The book warns against striking with bare hands, favoring plastic spoons and thin branches, known as switches." Yeah, that's MORE likely to harm a child, not less. If you hit someone too hard with your hands, it hurts YOU too. If you're using another object, you can't judge how badly you're hurting the child as easily. Bruises take time to appear. And the rod mentioned in the Bible? Shepherds never hit sheep with their rods! The rod was used to provide gentle guidance. I doubt that the author of Proverbs had hitting children in mind when he wrote that "spare the rod, spoil the child" verse. There's a petition to have the book removed from Amazon: www.change.org/petitions/jeff-bezos-amazon-ceo-refuse-to-carry-books-which-advocate-the-physical-abuse-of-children

For me, the teen years are a mixed bag. Some teens are pretty cool and intelligent, but some are so commercial-happy they get really stupid at that age. I majored in secondary ed mainly BECAUSE I find teens easier to relate to and explain things to than young children.
And yeah, I'm a fringe adult. To give an idea: Over the break, I've spent hours on doll-collecting and restoration sites, and worked on doll clothes and fixing the hair on my old Felicity doll. (Protip: NEVER machine-wash the Cardinal Cloak with anything else. The hideous '96 American Girl of Today Meet outfit was unharmed, but Felicity's flower garden Meet dress is badly stained. And this on the Delicate cycle!) I've also wanted to get a Twilight Sparkle My Little Pony figurine (and maybe a blank pony to turn into my OC, Zena) but am afraid of what people will say about an adult who teaches other adults buying a toy for 5-year-old girls.
And...yeah, you handled the whole "gay" thing superbly in both cases. I wish I had relatives that I feel safe coming out as bi to...but most of the ones who'd be cool with it are notorious gossips, or live with conservative parents who would immediately start heckling me about it.

I don't think I'd be able to survive without chicken, or tea, or chocolate. *bigs hugs* And congrats on the healthcare! I take it you don't live in the US right now.

"Cold as Ice" was still better. I dislike the phrase "family values" because, silly me, I always assumed that the traditional family values were honesty, loyalty, fairness, and unconditional love. Apparently instead they are hating on gay people, railing against divorce, and forcing women to have babies if their wombs happen to be occupied.

As soon as I saw the title start with "Afghan girl...", I knew this wasn't going to end good. Likewise. Poor girl. Nobody should have to do sex work if they don't want to.

So Mr. Perry is going to raise a bunch of unwanted rape babies? I sure hope so. Otherwise, that would make him a hypocrite. You know, because claiming to support "traditional Christian values" while throwing gay people and the poor under the bus doesn't.

penny-arcade.com/2011/12/26/an-update1And we've got an update. A few things, though. I agree that he doesn't seem sorry, just sorry that he got caught. I also agree that he deserves no sympathy. I don't, however, agree with the reason he doesn't deserve sympathy. Yeah, he fucked with someone bigger than him and probably had it coming, but I think he fails in the sympathetic department when his entire fucking website is plagiarized from other people and tells a customer that he will be refused service and his product will be sold on e-Bay. Now, I'm just waiting for the press release from the actual creator of the Avenger controller. EDIT: As a humorous aside, when @oceanmarketting was switched to @oceanstratagy, the correctly spelled @oceanstrategy was available. Someone has made @oceanstrategy to mock @oceanstratagy. So, among other forms of idiocy, they also can spell neither "marketing" nor "strategy?" *applauds* It takes a lot of effort to fail that hard.

I am reminded of how I never really consciously registered ever hearing any songs by Foreigner, except maybe “Hot Blooded.” Then I see one little episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and suddenly I am hearing “Cold as Ice” and “Double Vision” everywhere! Don't forget "Head Games!"

What is it with these niche cable stations that never stick to their niche? They used to, but then they took an arrow to the kneegot high. This is why I don't watch TV anymore. The Internet at least understands how to stick to its target audiences.

The worst part is, a lot of the stuff that really happened is way more interesting than the Nostredamus crap. An additional Modern Marvels rerun would be more exciting. Hel, videos of paint drying in the 1930s would be more exciting. And Itachi, we already know who Mabus is. He's a troll in Montreal.
