So... somehow last night, on the IRC, various people convinced me to do nudes of myself. Considering that I don't really have any recent pictures of myself except for these, I figure that it would be fairly acceptable to finally post a picture of myself. I wish I had some contacts with me right now, because I can really pull off a good Satan when I am without glasses and change my hair around a bit. Oh, well. Anyway, since we are on a PG-13 rated board, here is a fairly safe image:

Why is it based on Arial? At least make it a good-looking font! At the VERY least, go with Helvetica or Verdana!
Seriously, Arial? Arial is the new Comic Sans!

You have GOT to be kidding. People actually use Comic Sans for anything anymore? At least, anything serious? That's almost as bad as Arial. And Arial is the new Comic Sans!

Perhaps this thread will end up in F&B, but hopefully not. I was just wandering around StumbleUpon, and landed on a page that had a "top 10" list of programming fonts. Nothing to be too surprised about, considering how popular (and easy) a top-10 list is for bloggers to make when they have no /real/ content to deal with, but the list gave me pause because the number 1 programming font they had was Arial. Yes, you read that right, they listed Arial (aka, Comic Sans Jr.) at number 1. www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2009/05/01/top-10-programming-fonts/Yes, they DID just list 4 proportional fonts as good programming fonts which, for myself, is pretty close to heresy. So what fonts do other programmers use? Myself, I prefer Bistreams Vera Sans Mono and Dina. They both are nice (and both are listed at that site, listed at 3 and 5, respectively) but both have their own little quirks that force me to switch back and forth occasionally. The worst part about Bistream Vera Sans Mono, in my opinion, are that the < and > marks are too narrow in regards to their height. I prefer the marks to take up the full height of the line. As well the . and , can look similar at a glance. From Dina, my biggest complaint is the & looks too much like an 8, and that the @ and $ can be a bit difficult when tired or stressed. Otherwise, I consider both to be near-perfect (though Dina is Windows-only). So what are your favorite coding fonts? What is good about them, and what, if anything, irks you about them? If any of you know of "THE" programming font, by all means, let the rest of us (or at least myself!) know about it.

My thoughts are that humans are rather poor creatures when it comes to evolution.
I think an ideal form would be... Six limbs, the lower pair being feet-only (wide and thick, good for stability), the upper pair being hand-only (purely manipulation) and the middle pair would be usable for either (similar to monkey feet). Of course, their spinal column would need to exist in such a way as to support such, making for an 'L'-shaped spine. The optimal form would also have a shorter tail, stubby but thick, which would help to improve balance as well as function as a simple weapon when necessary.
Their coloring would depend heavily on their proximity to their parent star(s), with lighter natural colors being nearer and darker colors if they are farther from their parent star.
The head would be fairly small, beyond the usual features. Eyes would be mostly to the sides, giving a very wide range of vision (though I could easily see a highly-evolved alien having four eyes, two two set slightly far back, and two set much as our eyes are, though the four-eye-variant would be most likely if they had been a prey animal mostly, though prey animals generally do not evolve higher intelligence [based on our Earth-based examples]). The mouth would be dependent on the types of foods available, and if the alien were primarily herbivore, carnivore or omnivore.
Eh, I'll stop rambling here. In short, I don't think humans are optimized too well right now, though we do fare quite well.

I finally got it fixed, after rewriting it bit by bit, but I do thank you both for responding. And Yahweh, that was my problem... I didn't know where it was at the time. I had a general idea, but that spanned about 600 lines of code. That's why I was hoping there may have been a PHP guru around that would be know a problem when they saw it.

I'll not link to it or provide an image, but I would think that the cover for "Virgin Killer" by Scorpions would definitely be on this list, or at the very least, be a highly questionable cover.

I am taking a class on PHP/MySQL right now, and I am working on the final project. I have run into a bug that, for the life of me, I cannot figure out. I have been fighting with this single problem for the past two days, and I am at my wit's end.
I have asked the teacher for assistance, but he won't do anything because it is the final project.
I would not be too concerned, since I am doing extremely well as it is in the course, except for two things: The final project takes up 1/4 of the total grade, and the final project is all-or-none (meaning if it works right, we get all the points, and if it doesn't work right, we get no points). So even if a person were to get perfect scores on everything else, if they had a defunct final project, they would walk away with a C.
Is there anybody here who is knowledgeable about PHP and MySQL who could take a look at my code? I'm not asking for the answer, I just need a definite place to start looking. The project is mostly completed, other than this one bug, but I am at a loss as to what is causing the bug.
Even something as simple as "this page doesn't look quite right" would be a massive help. I've just been staring at it for too long, and need a break to get some fresh eyes to look at it, but I don't have time to freshen up my eyes now.
Anybody around with such knowledge that I could chat with a bit?
