I quit the job at the start of May, but it's not fully healed yet. I think it's a tendon issue. What sucks is that it seems fine for a while, but then something happens and it fucking hurts, to the point where I can't lift my arm up without the pain stopping me. Ouch. Hope that doesn’t lead to anything permanent. ‘Specially if you can’t get it treated. Life in America is all just sunshine and rainbow farts right now, isn't it? Compared to these stories, my life certainly is. And I’ve been effectively unemployed, with only seasonal and temporary jobs for the past six years. Naturally, no insurance, so I could easily be in one of those folks’ situation, but have been pretty lucky so far.

Let's ship 'em off to Afghanistan and show'em what real poverty is!" /privileged assholeYou have no idea how many people I've heard say this.

Mostly the ones who say that are on Yahoo and other sites. If anyone said that to any one of us in real life, I'm pretty sure they'd get punched in the face.

This crap makes me scared to finish nursing school. I might be too dumb to even pass, and so I'll have all that debt and won't even be able to BE a nurse at all.

If you get some opportunities to further put off “The Real World,” like an exchange program, a stint in the Peace Corps, a special educational program, etc., I suggest taking it. The experience would be exciting, might come with a hold on the loan payments, and could possibly give you the chance to make connections in the right places to make the eventual entry easier.

Heard this from Mitt Romney today:
"All the streets are connected. Wall Street is connected to Main Street," Romney said, adding that protesters are seeking "scapegoats to attack. Don't attack a whole class of Americans, whether they're rich or poor, white or black. This isn't the time for divisiveness."
Isn't it interesting how the Republicans are dead set against "divisiveness" when it's their ass in the potential sling. Seriously, the modern Republican party is the most deliberately divisive US political entity since Burr busted a cap in Hamilton's perfumed ass.
This is what disgusts me about the Republican party. The sheer, shameless hypocrisy.

Poor put-down upon very-wealth white male Americans. Asking them to pay taxes indeed! Has there ever been worse persecution?

There hasn't been worse persecution since the Crusades, I tell ya.

I love how things like “All streets are connected” and “A rising tide lifts all ships” are used to defend giving to the rich at the expense of the poor—because it’ll, y’know, trickle down—but apparently there is no way in hell putting it at the other end with the poor will benefit the rich. Guess there’s no such thing as trickle up, huh?
Not that trickle down actually works.

These are the people who believe that the vast majority of the nation's income should go almost only to a few hundred people. So it can trickle down.

They're almost flat out telling you you're getting pissed on with trickle down economics.

You know what, maybe the “Every Street is Connected” line is appropriate. I mean, just cause the street is connected doesn’t mean any traffic goes down them. There are entire neighborhoods in my hometown that I’ve never been in.
So, yeah, Wall Street may be connected to Main Street, but that ain’t where the money is flowing to.
