They're using rubber bullets and then denying that they're using them, or that people are being injured. People have been collecting casings for them as evidence and taking pictures.

The over reaction of this is done by the riot squads/police is what worries me the most. How far can you push people who are doing a peaceful protest before you push them too far and peace becomes chaos and violent. Or you know how many times can you poke the dog with a stick before he bites...

Or you know how many times can you poke the dog with a stick before he bites... That's probably the whole point. If they get violent than Occupy Wall Street will lose every last shred of legitimacy overnight and quickly fade away with the loss of mainstream support.

On the other hand if they endure without violence they will gain support.

But then they're suffering violence without fighting back. Catch-22 for them.

But then they're suffering violence without fighting back. Catch-22 for them. "I cannot teach you violence, as I do not myself believe in it. I can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one even at the cost of your life." ~Mahatma Gandhi

The police are clearly just doing their jobs, protecting freedom by not letting these criminal terrorists run amok in the streets. Besides, if these protesters weren't doing anything illegal, the police wouldn't be hurting them, right?

Some of what they are doing is illegal. It is called civil disobediences for a reason. The issue is that the police response is disproportionate to the severity of the crime.

But then they're suffering violence without fighting back. Catch-22 for them. Rather the point of of “Passive” resistance. Suffer the violence. Endure it. Bring the injustice out for the world to see, and do it in a way that leaves no room for doubt that it is injustice. If they can suffer violence without fighting back, they win.

I'm going to assume that AA is Poeing there. Yes, even him.
Oh sure. But when I criticise police for disproportionate response...

Can you imagine if anything like this had happened to the Teabaggers? They would STILL be whining like children about it. All those senior citizens on Medicare would probably have died from the excitement, however.

I'm going to assume that AA is Poeing there. Yes, even him. Oh sure. But when I criticise police for disproportionate response... AA is making a sarcastic jab at the forum populace because he thinks we all love to lick police boot... simply because we disagree that police aren't all completely corrupt thugs. And he also happens to think that internal investigations are nothing more than a conspiracy to give the populace false assurance. That being said, I do understand why people jumped all over you for those threads. I disagree with it, but I do understand why.
