Rape Is Ok When It Is Female On Male
Abuse Is Okay When It Is Female On Male
To use these as spring-boards for this topic.
Quite frankly, I notice a disturbing trend. One that even I've fallen prey to.
And it's the idea that, while rape/sexual harassment/abuse is horrible when done to women, it's humor when it's a woman doing it to a man.
One example:
And another point made by TV Tropes regarding real life, in "Abuse is Okay if it's Female on Male"
Very common in Real Life. Men who are victims of domestic abuse often find getting help extremely difficult because the police and social services tend to follow this trope to a T. In some places there have even been rules that in the case of a domestic abuse call, the man is arrested even if he was the one who called for help. Abuse to men goes unreported far more often because men are less willing to ask for help, and the instances of abuse tend to be more dangerous because women more often use a weapon in the attack.
e.g. a frying pan, which can cause brain damage.
And before Wykked posts, I would like to mention something: I am not saying male-on-female rape/abuse/sexual harassment is in any way acceptable. The fact of the matter is that I want female-on-male rape/abuse/sexual harassment to be treated on the same level as male-on-female rape/abuse/sexual harassment. Nothing less. Nothing more.
So if you post that damn Monkey Rape Apologist meme again, I will flat-out accuse you of being a rape apologist yourself, and in this case, I'd actually be right.
I would like to mention some impacts this has had on society.
1. Whenever a woman starts making lewd jokes and the other kind of things that you would expect from sexual harassment, the guy is generally regarded as lucky for receiving that harassment. Even if he doesn't want it. And if he doesn't want it, he's automatically accused of being gay or ungrateful or whatever. Note that if it were a man doing the same thing to a woman, he'd probably end up getting penalized for it, and rightly so.
2. Whenever a female teacher takes advantage of a male student, that male student is regarded as lucky and told to feel so even if he feels violated.
3. If a woman hits a man or abuses him, psychologically or physically, not only is he regarded as being a wimp or not treated seriously, but is often accused of being an abuser himself.
In regards to the last one, there is a movie I've heard of called "Men Don't Tell" that deals with this exact situation. And it supposedly deals with male-on-female abuse, too. I will try to watch this myself sometime.
Now, what's the point of this thread? The point is that, as long as we as a society continue to joke about female-on-male abuse, and female-on-male rape, we enable it. And in doing so, we cause as much harm as the fundies do.

One example:
Wedding Crashers, as noted in the page quote. She literally ties him up while he's asleep and when he wakes up tapes his mouth shut to stop his protests, and the next day he calls it a "midnight rape". Yet he falls in love with her and marries her by the end of the movie, and this is a comedy. They would never, never dare film this with the genders reversed.
