fstdt.net/QuoteComment.aspx?QID=62268OK, wow. The fundie index for this quote has been jumping rapidly between -7 and 0. Many people are crying "double standard", others have been saying that this isn't fundie, and others are like "we came here to bash people who believe in sky fairies, why was this quote approved?" I'm just amazed that an entire flame war has erupted over this. Does it stand as fundie, or am I wrong and the quote neither fundie nor darndest? I'm kinda surprised this hasn't been mentioned here yet. Hence why I'm mentioning it, in case something needs to be done about it. Since I'm not sure if it's a mainpage violation, I'm not necessarily going to post in that topic. If I should, I could just copy and paste this post in their and delete this one.

It's gotten as high as 5 in the index rating.
Yes, I've been watching this like a hawk. It's far too amusing. It makes me want to go buy puffcorn so I can have some while I'm reading it. ^-^
ETA: Oh, and yes, it's fundie. Of the mods who have viewed it at this point in time, all are in agreement on that point.

Indeed. Damn it is fun watching people freak out when they're reminded that atheist stupidity is just as bad as religious stupidity. Ah, hypocrisy.

It's fundie. If not, it's no better than the fundies. When a Christian says all religions should be banned except Christianity, there's no question that they are a fundie. When an atheist says all religions should be banned, we need to start a topic to determine if they are a fundie or not? In both cases the fundie in question wants to enforce their beliefs through the law. I'll tell you what, I'll agree that the quote is not fundie if someone can show me that it is any better than the bold section of this quote: www.fstdt.net/QuoteComment.aspx?QID=62136

There IS such a thing as an atheist fundie.
What he said is basically no different than what the religious fundie said.

yes when most people think of fundie, they think religion. However nothing says there can't be atheist fundies.

"we came here to bash people who believe in sky fairies, why was this quote approved?" Whoever said that needs to learn what the site is about I think.

Something I've not understood that this whole bruhaha perfectly illustrates:
A lot of you say you stay away from mainpage because it's full of vitriol and idiocy (and I don't mean the quotes). Wouldn't it be better, therefore, for you to be out there on the mainpage making your voices heard over and over again and in force until the asshats get tired of not being tolerated and run off, so that the mainpage becomes a place you actually like visiting?
If nobody speaks up, it isn't going to get any better. Same if enough people don't speak up. And no, speaking here is NOT speaking up. Speaking up only happens if the people you can't stand can hear you.

I'm a mainpager.
Yeah, it was a fundie response to a fundie comment. I've argued for years that there's such a thing as a fundie Atheist. I don't know if Pule is a fundie himself or if the quote just pissed him off into a complete rant, but even he accepted his quote being up there.

Both of those quotes are fundie, IMHO.
The first claims that all religion is not only wrong, but immoral. (he calls religions "demonic" which is not something you generally hear from an atheist, but whatever) The second advocates violence against religious people. And both advocate banning religion all together. These are fundie positions. They SHOULD be mainpaged.

While I disagree that there is a such thing as a fundamentalist atheist (atheism has no doctrines, dogmas, rules, or beliefs to it, it's just a lack of belief in a deity), I must admit the "religion [ought to be] banned" part is where he lost me. That part seemed like overkill.

I find it funny that the second quote exists only because of the first quote. This is a necessary thing for FSTDT to go through, I believe. I agree partially, but fundamentalist != fundie. I know fundamentalists that aren't fundies, and there are fundies that aren't fundamentalists.
