Nope, no next time. I had my fun. Also, I was babying them, they can't handle even light criticism. I've been in discussions with scientists, we're vicious. Them? Telling them I think differently is a huge affront.
Let's be completely and totally fair, I do know more than them. I know a hell of a lot more than them. I am justified in my arrogance.

I was getting the impression that you were holding back (sounds like some kind of anime line...), I mean you didn't post any chemical diagrams, mountains of links, or any of that shit. Honestly, while you were pretty damn informative, a lot of those answers looked like I could have given them. That seemed a bit off.

But to a Raptard, I can see why they'd hate it so much. After all, they think god is the only being who can and should be arrogant about knowledge. Even though they're arrogant in their ignorance, but that's not the point >_>

et's be completely and totally fair, I do know more than them. I know a hell of a lot more than them. I am justified in my arrogance. Indeed. I don't think you really needed to apologize, since you pretty much hit the nail on the head - the guy was just trying to weasel out of having to admit that evolution was real in any form, so he (or rather, the creationist propaganda he's been reading) came up with that "it's not evolution, it's just adaptation!" argument - that way they can admit that what we can realistically replicate is true while still maintaining that there's some magical force that will prevent a creature from changing too much.

If vene did go for another attempt, they'd see through it soone enough and ban him, or all the arguements would descend into raptards shouting "Your ma!" to any post he made

There is no point in trying again. They don't want to learn, they just want to build their massive strawmen arguments against evolution, atheists and any other thing that even looks like it goes against what they think that bible says.
Must be some of them are not secure enough in their faith to learn about anything that is not in their bibles. Hell just look at the thread about the oldest bible. They started attacking it right out of the box.
I find it funny that they talk down about Catholics but if you talk to most Catholic Priests they can tell you the changes that have been made to the bible and when and why they happened.

"We aren't on this forum to learn" That pretty much summed up the whole thing. This. If it weren't for that attitude, maybe sites like ours wouldn't hate (their words, not mine) them so much.

This is my fav. All the frauds which happened in this area were exposed as frauds by "evolutionists" (that word sounds so weird). Better yet... all of those prevented a problem to evolutionary theory because none of them fit into the fossil record. Their exposure as hoaxes was a defeat for opponents of the theory. Kind of like when they say, "I've never seen a dog give birth to a cat." That would also cause us to have to re-evaluate biology.

I have to get this off my chest. My mother is in her late 70's, a fundy, and never graduated highschool. She also grew up in an area of the country that was rural, poor and about as backwoods Baptist as it can get. She told me not too long ago that she thought evolution was a "bit of a fib" and I excuse her for not knowing any better due to her age and circumstance. I explained it to her in terms she could understand and it was like a light went on in her head and she got it. She didn't stop believing in her god, she didn't stop reading her bible, she wasn't threatened by it the way the loons at RR are. To her, she learned something that she didn't know before and she saw it as a good thing (especially because she LOVES to watch anything on tv that has to do with nature and this helped her to understand a few things). If even my elderly mother can understand the basics and not feel it threatens her faith, then even the RRers should be able to get it. I have only to conclude that their willful ignorance (I LOVE JESUS AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME STOP BLAH BLAH BLAH) has its roots in being insecure about their faith. If they were really secure about what they believed, they could read every single book ever written on evolution and never feel threatened by it. They could learn, but not feel threatened. Some of them are so afraid of having a thought creep into their heads that they can't even go near it. Example: I can answer a lot of questions you might have about evolution. Ok, who do you think Jesus is? WTF? They immediately have to ignore possibly learning something and grab on to Jesus thoughts lest their brain might function. And one last thing. Mr. Mann, if you are reading this, you are a goddamned idiot and you know it. You immediately projected your insecurity about your lack of knowledge into someone telling you they were smarter than you and that you were stupid. If you didn't really believe you were stupid that wouldn't have been the first thing to pop out of your mouth. Thanks for proving what I've known all along. Vene, you did a great job. I thought your answers were interesting and spot on. Too bad they want to be ignorant. :::puts soap box away and moves on:::

My gram doesn't "believe in" evolution, either. I've tried to explain it a few times, myself. She doesn't get ultra-defensive, "the way the loons at RR are," but she never was convinced. :/

She's already proven herself better than the RR crowd just by doing that.

;DGo Vene!!!! Personally I don't know you would bother though, but at the same time I commend you trying to educate them about evolution. But they probably don't want to learn, they're just going to continue to believe what they want and have the nerve to say that you're trolling. But good job anyways. I second this, being an idiot and a pompous shithead is the worse combination.

I didn't thing you were being arrogant at all. You were just pointing out that people have different areas of expertise. You even gave an example of an area that you are not knowledgeable in. Some of the RRers were just looking for a reason to not like you (a few of them defended you, which I found encouraging). * * * It's kinda sad. They started out asking some reasonable questions. For a little while there, it actually looked like they were interested in learning, but then it quickly devolved into GodJesusBible flaming.
