Here's a better question: Why does God absolutely HAVE to have a dick? It's a fucking cosmic entity. Seriously.

God(s) are man's way of coping with the unexpainable. Natural disasters and extreme weather conditions were always attributed to an angry supernatural entity which had to be appeased. Enter the unscrupulous with a lust for absolute power over the people at large! When Superman first came upon the scene, his powers extended to being bullet-proof and fuck-all else. But as the series caught on, so his powers esculated expotentially. So it is with gods, and 2877 of these man-made "one-true"s is quite frankly 2788 too many. Man has now become the slave of his worst ever invention, and fundies perpetuate the madness by adding their own lunatic parameters. Why does god have to have a dick? God didn't make man, Man made God in his image, thus the male appendage. A more valid question would be "Where is Mrs. God" as she is never mentioned at all, and heaven is supposed to have a ready supply of virgins for the martyrs of some sects. This would indicate that this god thing is either impotent, or is permanently in a trance due to excessive masturbation, which would probably explain why this grumpy old bastard is always preaching retribution and punishment.

Well, it's like the old joke about the difference between the vengeful god of the Old Testament and the loving god of the New Testament is due to him getting laid.

And it's no surprise that so many fundies seem to prefer all the fire, brimstone and "let's stone the gays" of the Old Testament to the bits with Jesus in.

Logically speaking, God can't be a man. When God created man, man was "incomplete" without woman. Since God did not have that problem, God obviously was not a man.

What the word "god" entails largely depends on what culture of origin you're looking at.
Most non-Abrahamic religions portray their gods as being much like human beings. They might have a better perspective on things and PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER, but ultimately they can still make mistakes, be tricked, and (in many cases) even be hurt and killed. The dualistic, black-and-white morality didn't come up until Zoroastrianism, which had two equal and opposite gods, a God of Good and a God of Evil, neither of which was truly all-powerful (from what I understand). Most ancient cultures also had the free will/fate thing more or less worked out...either the future was unwritten and even the gods had only the vaguest idea of what would happen, or everyone/thing INCLUDING the gods was immutably locked into their fate, and the most choice you had was whether to meet it with dignity or not.
The Bible clearly advocates a "we are God's puppets" view in several places, which brings up the inevitable questions and logical contradictions.

A god is wishful thinking immersed in a thick fog.

Would that make God a woman or a herm? Still going by Bible logic, it can't be either, because the man needs the woman, or some such shit. God should also foresee this problem if it was both, so it must be neither. But then again, if man/mankind was created in God's image, then how could that be? It's another one of those logical problems that makes you think it's damn impossible for there to be a God, if even something as simple as this makes absolutely no sense.
