Its wrong to bully straight white protestants. Everyone else was just asking for it and their ludicrous demand for a special right to not get their ass kicked is infringing upon our freedom to treat them like shit. Uh..... I was bullied by a black girl. One day I finally snapped in gym and took a field hockey stick and smacked her over the head with it. I was told I needed to understand her situation, I needed more tolerance, I needed to be suspended. When I got back the next week the bullying escalated. But I was the one who should just suck it up and take it since I couldn't understand. I hear you. I was bullied by everyone in my schools, teachers included by dint of looking the other way when they weren't participating. The vast majority of times I got in trouble were from standing up for myself against bullies.

And fundies have cared about the Constitution since...when? Well, fundies have lost in many cases, mainly because of the fact that they don't care about the Constitution: Torcaso v. Watkins (1961) Engel v. Vitale (1962) Abington Township School District v. Schempp (1963) Murray v. Curlett (1963) Epperson v. Arkansas (1968) Daniel v. Waters (1975) Hendren v. Campbell (1977) Stone v. Graham (1980) Segraves v. State of California (1981) Wallace v. Jaffree (1985) Edwards v. Aguillard (1987) Smith v. Board of School Commissioners of Mobile County (1987) Webster v. New Lenox School District (1990) Lee v. Weisman (1992) Board of Education of Kiryas Joel Village School District v. Grumet (1994) Peloza v. Capistrano School District (1994) American Family Association v. City and County of San Francisco (2000) Freiler v. Tangipahoa Parish Board of Education (2000) Santa Fe Independent School Dist. v. Doe (2000) Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District (2005) McCreary County v. ACLU of Kentucky (2005) Selman v. Cobb County School District (2005) That's a LOT of fail

ironic that i should spot this thread blaming school shootings on a lack of prayer just after i find out that on of youtubes 'louder' christian fundies shot and killed a girl at school, then himself. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCX8x8zcSnEKinda sad to see how many jumped up to defend religion by blaming everything else. And that his parents were ignorant to his life except that he had those tirades.

Valid point about the Girl Scouts. Didn't mean to tar them with the same brush at the Boy Scouts.

So exactly which god did they kick out of schools?
My ex went to high school in a deeply religious part of the state. She dropped out because her teachers weren't fucking teaching her anything.

Never mind that, as religious participation has dropped throughout history, so have overall trends of violence. It may be reported more often in the news, but it's been on a steady decline throughout all of human history.

When it became apparent that I was an atheist and didn't believe in wasting half a school day to go to church, I was targetted by teachers and students. One day right before I left the school for good I was sitting in the hallway during lunch reading a book. Some cunt who hated me walked up, asked what I was reading, and before I had a chance to do/say anything, kicked me in the hands, sending the book flying and nearly breaking a couple fingers. All in front of a teacher! When I jumped up and shouted something to the effect of, "If you've got something to say to me, say it to my fucking face you motherfucker!" the teacher stepped in and starting in on me for swearing in the halls. On a good note though, when he ordered me to go to the VP, I just turned around, went outside, smoked a huge joint, skipped 3rd period to get some Mickey D's, and went to science class baked as shit. The administration never did anything to me.

You know who's to blame for school shootings? People who saw bullying going on is schools and said "it's just a part of growing up." Parents who couldn't give two shits if their kid even came home today or not. Teachers who knew something was wrong but didn't say anything because they might lose their jobs. Attention idiots of the religious right. Stop using tragedies to forward your own agenda. I know lying for Jesus isn't a sin for you guys but it still makes you look like assholes. Exactly.

I'm a member of the atheist club at my school and if a teacher or a student did anything to make us (or anyone else, for that matter) feel the least bit unwelcome there would be hell to pay from the administration.

I think that bullying is a form of abuse, and that victims (or their parents) ought to be able to press charges against the little shits who're doing the bullying. Send the fuckers to Juvy, plz!

Y'know, it still pisses me off that so many times, when someone stands up to the bullies, the ones who stand up to them are the ones who get punished. I wound up in a similar situation. I will tell more tomorrow night.
