Why can't you just ban me and then we can get on with our lives instead of letting me express my views with this massive RAEG?
I'm mystified. Seriously mystified.

...the books are dripping with racism, pseudoscience, anti-Catholic bigotry, homophobia, xenophobia, historical revisionism, One World Government conspiracy theories, anti-environmentalism, free market economics, etc. etc. Because free-markets are the root of all evil, amirite? Have fun in your communist utopia--or did I mean dystopia, after all, the USSR only had to kill 70 million people to prove that Capitalism is the only possible way to a free country and world. The other stuff? Legit complaints. Which makes your vague hatred of capitalism completely out of left field. What...? I just... what?

Free market capitalism, which is what chagen was disputing, certainly doesn't work. *A government-regulated market-based system that came into existence after the massive growth of governments in the 17th/18th centuries.

And when you have the government provide a service or good, then you have Socialism (because Socialism is the people controlling the means of production and government in a democracy represents the people). Free Market Capitalism leads to private fire departments where if you don't pay they let your house burn (even if people are in it). A Mixed Economy means that the tax funded fire department will put it out anyway.

Wait, Free Market is pure Anarchy.
Fuck Anarchy, you need regulations on things. You need to find the right balance of freedom and regulations, however.

Have fun in your capitalist utopia. When you end up in debtor's prison for the crime of being poor, or homeless and starving to death with no arms because there are safety regulations, I'll be the first to meet you there, and all I'll say is, "I told you so." BTW, Jesus was a communist, you hypocrite. Hah hah hah. The world sucks, idiot. Deal with it. Life isn't fair, now shut the fuck up and stop being so mad at others who actually worked for the fucking money. First: Raking leaves up for your mommy to give you and allowance does not equal a job in the work force. Second: At 15 I too thought I knew everything, turns out I knew two things - Jack and Shit....and Jack hauled ass out of town. And third: FUCK! I fed the troll, no more dam nmit, just wither and die.

That is where the debate needs to be, finding that balance. Everybody here wants that balance, we just have different ideas of where that balance lies. Instead of raging at each other, we debate calmly to try and figure out what works.

The funny thing about capitalism is that you need government services and regulations for it to actually work well - otherwise the powerful will just take all resources from the rest (please remember that police force and law system is also a service). Also, unregulated markets tend to turn into monopolies often - which is sub-optimal for all but the monopolist.

Wait, what? I thought "Free Market" was just another name for Capitalism. Capitalism certainly couldn't exist in a perfect free market*. To the extent that markets are totally unregulated, they are totally inefficient, just as they are totally inefficient if they are totally regulated. Deregulation can increase inefficiency to the extent of nonexistence. The important political/economic argument of the modern world is which regulations and what government duties are efficient and which are not. Regulation shouldn't really be thought of as a percent, more a quality. It is obvious that conservatives and the standard economic faculties of the world wil not take part in this argument. It is largely among liberals. *Capitalism certainly would never have existed if the size and scope of European government had not massively increased in the 17th/18th centuries.

An actual political philosophy would say "this is bad, what can we do to make it better". Randroidism is not a political philosphy, because it says "this is bad, ha ha".
