I have a feeling that the original topic has long since faded into irrelevance, but I'll try.
How the fuck can you disagree with set theory for religious reasons?

I have a feeling that the original topic has long since faded into irrelevance, but I'll try. How the fuck can you disagree with set theory due to "religious or political reasons?" Because anti-intellectualism is part of your religion. Also, because if the universal set doesn't mention God, then it's A LIE.

How the fuck can you disagree with set theory for religious reasons? Consistency. If you're disagreeing with some of the crucial discoveries of science* for religious/political reasons, it would be inconsistent not to disagree with them all. *Evolution, climate science, Keynesianism and what have you.

Their math curriculum sounds right up my alley. Of course I don't know what set theory is.
Really I just don't know math.

How the fuck can you disagree with set theory for religious reasons? The same blog quoted in the OP wrote another article on A Beka w hile back, and they proposed a couple of reasons: (Link time! www.talk2action.org/story/2005/11/22/234711/68)Even though they have reasons, it is still a extremely poor excuse for depriving students from an important concept in mathematics. Worse yet, it's written and published by a small Christian college in Pensacola (known as Pensacola Christian College). I shudder in fear of the math programs they are giving to their college students.

Yeah, if there's one word that describes fundies, it's "consistent". Wait. Also, I'm not sure I'd call Keynesianism a discovery of science, thing of beauty though it is.

Their math curriculum sounds right up my alley. Of course I don't know what set theory is. Really I just don't know math. Isn't that the thing where the possible answers to a given problem are given in terms of Venn diagrams and/or set notation? Isn't that, like, intermediate algebra? Or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

Wait, Free Market is pure Anarchy. Fuck Anarchy, you need regulations on things. You need to find the right balance of freedom and regulations, however. ....and a light bulb comes on and an angles gets its wings or something.

Seriously, if advance math can indirectly cause people to doubt your god, maybe the math isn't the problem. Edit: (I forgot to add this) Here's an idea: lets give the fundies America. They want to turn the nation into their "heaven", they can have it! I'll guarantee you, when things go screwy, it won't be long when they realize all their scapegoats (atheists, homosexuals, Muslims, etc) are all gone, and will resort to finger pointing of each other.

The... flying...fuck? That's it. Everybody intelligent in America: abandon ship and go to Canada/Australia/Europe. In Australia the government funds school chaplains in government schools and religious schools directly. Both political parties support the funding of private religious schools because it partially funds private schools allowing the middle classes to send their kids to private schools relatively cheaply and the government is too terrified of backing down on middle class welfare and losing the pork-barrel vote to withdraw it's funds from religious schools.
