I'm somewhat concerned, in your design, by the horrifying proximity of those planets. The destruction of Earth is virtually certain if we hold to your documentation.

I say we just all move to the Moon and set up a FSTDT colony. I have a good design spec.... Is it at all bad that I know exactly where that comes from with just a single glance?

The USSR was communist now? I thought it ended up being the personal empire of Stalin and his cronies. You know, making them effectively the new bourgeoius. so...not communist. at all. This post is suspicious, but I'll bite. Yes it is, they espoused many beliefs in communism and tried to spread ideas to other countries. Did Soviet leaders milk the system and live high on the hog? Yes, but that's inevitable in State Societies. In all, they tried and failed at being equal. Now, contrast the USSR to modern People's Republic of China (a capitalist authoritarian system) and tell me the USSR wasn't communist. I'll disagree politely because of this little quote from Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. Lenin, whose system was the model for Mao, Stalin and other "communist" regimes never believed for a second that ordinary people could be trusted with power. Left to their own devices ordinary people would only advocate for getting themselves a better life. Of course he justified this saying that by eliminating bourgeois democracy the dictatorship of the proletariat would inevitably lead to a democracy of the workers. Sounds nice, but the fact remains that Leninist "communism" was authoritarian from its beginning. If you propose that a professional class of leaders rule the roost in a fashion that is designed to be dictatorial the chances of them willingly giving away that power is pretty bloody slim. Nobody tried to be equal, they vanguard of the proletariat found themselves in charge and said "hey, you know what? Fuck equality"! This is why I'm a socialist but not a Leninist, I don't trust a professional vanguard to be any better at running things than the idiots who are there now, particularly not under the banner of any type of dictatorship!

I'd like to point out I can't be communist because of my second-hand experiences with the USSR.
Let's just say they ain't no friend of my family's and I still distrust Russians involved with the gov't under Putin.

chagen, I honestly think you've misjudged us. We criticize Rapture Ready for banning people for their opinion, and we'd be utter hypocrites if we did the same.
Honestly, your flame-baiting is toeing the line, but regardless, you haven't actually done anything worthy of being banned. You're voicing your opinion, like everyone else here does, and it just so happens that the majority disagrees with you vitriolically. Don't worry, the same happens to other people. Everyone here has a stupid button, myself included. Though I'm awesome and will overcome that defect.
And quite honestly, compared to some other people we've had on this forum, you're actually a breath of fresh air, opinions aside. The fact that you actually listened to someone correcting you about what a Free Market is, AND changed your stance on it due to your new information means that you're actually somewhat rational, which is more than can be said for a lot of people on the internet, including right wingers, left wingers, christians, atheists, and pagans.
Personally, I view some of the people posting comments on the main page quotes as basically self-submitting fundies of their own sort. Not all of them, just some of them.

It would not surprise me in the least if chagen thought that Libertarians orginated in american in the 70s given his obviously staggering knowledge of other socio-economic and political systems. I am a Libertarian, and even I know better than that.
