Because our protests aren't anything like the ones in Libya. People here don't protest to overthrow the gov. I think your attempts to equate the two are laughable and stupid. And the fact that Gaddafi does do stuff for his people does mean something. Human rights don't mean shit next to things like economic prosperity and decent living standards.

Human rights don't mean shit next to things like economic prosperity and decent living standards. Take note: THIS is the mentality I was referencing earlier.

You support totalitarianism. Good for you. Plus you don't need to support government overthrow for the protest and the government to react terrible wrong.

Human rights don't mean shit next to things like economic prosperity and decent living standards. ....Huh!?!?!? Are you seriously saying this? I have to ask, did you think freeing the slaves was a bad idea because doing so reduced economic prosperity? I'm not saying you DO think this, but it is the logical outcome of this statement.

Zachski has a point.
The South was prosperous when they took away the human rights of their slave. Essentially, linuxianilmurov, you are saying that economic prosperity justify such horrible treatment of people.

I'm starting to think that Linux is actually just a butthurt Gaddafi.

I offer, for your consideration, the reaction of the average citizen of a NATO signatory country were the Libyans to commence bombing in support of those countries' rebels or insurgents in their own countries. I can't really imagine what that reaction would be, since no NATO signatory country ever had rebels or insurgents at the scale Libya has now.

Human rights don't mean shit next to things like economic prosperity and decent living standards. Sure, that's all fine and good unless you do something the government doesn't like. Or a person with power, or connections, or your neighbor, or your family, or your friends. They simply just have to claim you said something bad about the government, or did something illegal. Then you get thrown in jail for life, or a go to a work camp, or executed.

And those protests are nothing compared to what has happened in the US. There have not been massive protests in the street to overthrow the government. To compare what has happened here and there is ridiculous. Are you high? At the moment, no. I'm also not the one saying that the US Government would turn it's military on it's civillians.

It would if it was faced with the massive upheaval Libya is facing. And it had before, eg Kent State (the National Guard is a paramilitary which is close enough, many of the people doing the shooting in the Arab world are also paramilitary)

Freeing slaves in the US was worth it because it made people that are Americans free. And it didn't hurt the economy of the South, it made it better, with slavery going on longer, the South would stagnate and would of industrialized even later then it did. Don't forget Libya did have one of the highest GDP per capita on the continent.

Right, ad hominem attacks always help your argument.

That's not an ad hominem. That's just an insult. He did not say you're wrong because you're dumb, he merely said you're dumb. He probably said you're dumb because you're saying dumb things, but I would rather not put words in his mouth.
