I hope your still reading this, you whiny privileged asshole troll. While an authoritative government might assist you because you're "the majority" it doesn't help the lives of everyone and in many instances make it worse. Not everyone is a-okay with economic progress over human rights like you. You have now idea what it's like to be an indigenous person who have their human rights erased for the sake of "economic progress".

I for one would like to pose a question to the OP:
What, exactly, is your purpose in starting this thread? You popped it open with no introduction, discussion, or even subtle implication of what your opinion was and then sandbagged until you could attack the opinions of others. This smells suspiciously like a bait thread, which will get your ass banned faster than Teela Tequila goes through penicillin.
And so I ask again, and please bear in mind that this is a direct question put to you by a mod: What, exactly, was your purpose in beginning this thread?
Oh well, never mind. Banned asshole is banned.

Is he Malay or Chinese or any other ethnic group? He was basically wailing about how life was so horrible and a democracy would be better. I bet that the majority of the people, ie the Malays rather this way. Ie your values of democracy are being followed as the wishes of most of the people are being followed their. This is what "democracy" in the Arab world would look like. You can find examples like this all over the world. In Syria, most of the minorities rightly fear what will happen to them once the Sunnis take over. You know what? If a legitimate election were held in Malaysia, Syria or anywhere where protests are occurring, and the status quo doesn't change, I'll be quiet. You're right, I could be in the minority here and in any aspects, I am. But I'm not being given a chance to speak out and neither are the Syrians, which is my point in all of this. The fact that you are half-Malaysian makes your case even flimsier, because all you need to do in order to understand the Arab Spring is to ask your parent. Why did he/she leave the country so many years ago? Somewhere in his/her answer would probably be "because I didn't get a chance", because someone always had the edge because of the the color of their skin, or the opportunities are given to the people who already have more than enough. Syria is facing the exact same problem, as are many other Arab nations. Youth unemployment especially hovers in the double digits for years. It was 25% under Mubarak, 48% under Assad. There is a sense that money is being concentrated at the top, and the lower classes aren't seeing any of it. Worse, their education system is preparing them terribly for the 21st century. www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130222200www.economist.com/blogs/schumpeter/2011/02/youth_unemploymentAnd yet all you see is religion and the sectarian divide. Sectarian divide exists, yes. So does the possibility one sect will oppress the other after all this is done. But why are you letting the potential of failure and regressivism rule your views? Are you saying the protestors are definitely going to allow the minorities to be oppressed? In Egypt this very fight is occurring, and what this only tells us is the leftmost factions of the Egyptian Arab Spring isn't done. We have to give them credit for what they do. Finally, yes I am Chinese. So what? Why does my race matter in how I view things? Does it make my views invalid? If I argue that we should move past sectarianism, racism and judging people by their religion, why does the fact I'm Chinese matter? I am a Malaysian and my views as a Malaysian count much more than my views as a Chinese.
