If God hates the world, why did he bother creating it?

Question: Is there a death penalty in Norway??? The absolute maximum this fundie coward will ever recieve is 21 years. The death sentence was taken out of Norwegian Law shortly after WW2 when Quissling was executed. This is a country with the lowest crime rate, the highest standard of living, one of the best education systems and healthcare on this planet. Also the most atheist and humanistic countries on this planet. Fundies, hang your heads in shame, then hang yourselves and do the world a big favour.

Question: Is there a death penalty in Norway??? Not since 1905 Norway is quite anti-death penalty. Quisling was an exception. Even Norway has it's limits

Not since 1905 Norway is quite anti-death penalty. And, if Wikipedia is to be believed, anti-life imprisonment since 2002.

Question: Is there a death penalty in Norway??? Not since 1905 Norway is quite anti-death penalty. Quisling was an exception. Even Norway has it's limits We had the death penalty for certain crimes in war back in the forties. Now, even that is removed. And as czeckmate says, maximum prison time is 21 years. ...they're not going to let this creep out after 21 years. In Norwegian courts, it is possible to be sentenced to custody, which, in theory, can be infinitely prolonged. In other words, lifetime. I see on facebook that parts of the public are screaming for blood, and wish a death sentence upon him. I say no! Lock him away, but let us not lose ourselves over this. Norwegian humanitarian values must survive.

How the hell does one mix up Australia and Canada? Dunno. Both are rich, first world, English-speaking, former British colonies that fucked over their native populations and aren't the US? Beyond that, I'm stumped. And both have kangaroos, obviously? ETA: You'd also be jaw droppingly stunned to find out how often I have encountered people who think that Australia is in Europe or that Australians don't speak English. Some of these people think Austria and Australia are the same thing, but some of them actually know they are two different countries, just think they are close together. Also a staggering number of people think Australia is a tiny island somewhere... I've heard us compared to Hawaii and Cuba, both. Like I said... splintery wooden stakes, right in the eye...

A speech from Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, who works in the bombed building and lost friends at Utøya. His reasoned reaction is admirable: In his words (more or less, he spoke in Norwegian): Edit: This speech was given before Breivik was identified as the culprit. Well, I'll be off a few hours. I need to carry on with my life. Today's workout waits. If only every country had leaders with the courage not to freak out* in case of disaster. *Or to use it for political gain, of course.

Okay I know enough about what's going on around me to know that... more than 91 people died in 9/11. In per capita terms, probably a similar percentage of the Norwegians were killed yesterday as Americans were on 9/11. I know that a greater percentage of Australians were killed in Bali than Americans in New York. There are lots of Americans.

Much more land + a dominant religion/mindset that encourages making lots of babbies. Somehow, I'm not surprised...
