*sigh* Yes Shane, I am aware of the actual motivations behind the columbine shooting. However... if you were reading or watching much news at the time, you may recall the constant, near hysterical claims about Klebold and Harris being members of "Nazi internet forums". I am pointing out the similarity between the hysterical knee-jerk "there must be someone to blame" flailing that goes on in the wake of these sorts of tragedies. just like everybody on the political left aren't communists. Exactly that sort of thing. |

His uniform he wants to appear in is thus: A vague military uniform. He hasn't even decided what he wants it to resemble. But he says he wants it military of some kind. Yes, he's quite fond of playing dress-up:  Anyone know if any of those ribbons are legit? Norway still has compulsory national service, don't they? ETA: Hey, maybe THATS what the media can glom onto as something that marks him out as an outsider... he likes to dress in fantasy clothing! This is going to be fun! The uniform jacket is slightly reminiscent of the one used by His Majesty's Guard. All the distinctions are obviously bullshit, and Breivik has no official medals or other awards. Dress-up it is.

Columbine had nothing to do with Nazis or anything of the sort. Columbine was the result of bullying that was ignored despite several outreaches. Just because it fell upon Hitler's birthday does not mean it is automatically linked to the Nazi movement. They originally intended for it to outdo other attacks like the Oklahoma City Bombing (meaning that it would happen on those dates). There was also the fact that it was close to activities a lot of high schools do at the end of the school year. Lots of activities means a lot of people are present and people somehow don't expect such a thing to happen. I would appreciate if you didn't give in to the squawking and insisting that Columbine was Nazi-related. In other news, Mr. Shitstain has asked if he can be seen in court in uniform. Actually it's a misconception that the Columbine killers were simply out for revenge against bullies. Eric Harris was a textbook psychopath while Dylan Klebold was a depressed little follower who obeyed whatever he said. Many things combined into one for it. Just like with a lot of things that happen in this world. I figured it would be fairly obvious why. I didn't feel comfortable leaping over that chasm to say Nazi uniform. Good to have it confirmed again that 21 years may not be all the time he finds himself behind bars. ETA- I want to point out the video here. apparently a girl literally played dead and managed to survive because of this. It's a miracle he didn't double check she was dead. Usually playing dead doesn't work in these types of things. |

In fairness, Honky never said that bullying wasn't a factor, just that it wasn't simply about seeking revenge against bullies (which would carry the implication that bullying alone is enough to cause someone to massacre his or her fellow students, something most psychologists disagree with -- it takes several factors coming together to create a spree killer, including, as you said, a trigger). |
