Green Beret vs. Spetznach is on tonight and I'm watching it in a few minutes (yay Central timezone.)
Personally I'm voting on the Soviets.

Pfft. Spetznaz(sp) only has technology and doctrines up to USSR collapse, green beret OTOH is completely up to date. I don't really think the Soviets stand much of a chance personally.

They just did mid-range weapon and Soviets have the advantage with their Saiga semi-auto shotgun compared to the pump action the Green Berets have.

Heh, I'd like to see what the Soviets have in answer to the Steyr.

The Green Beret's M67 beat the Spetznaz MDG5.
I'm currently trying to get over the Green Beret's having a shovel that's like a freaking axe.
Green Beret's shovel axe aka e-tool was nothing compared to the Spetznaz spring loaded combat knife. I love it!

Believe it or not, I actually found myself guessing this one would be a draw...which it practically was. The ballistic knife was cool, though. I definitely wouldn't mind having one. ;D

Haven't seen the show. Sounds like a good concept. But taking out scenarios, tactics and unit sizes messes up the scenario.
It should be a Squad of Spartans(7-10) VS a team of Ninja (2-3). Ninja would would have ambush tactics and a variety of weapons. Spartans would have their Squad tactics of making a column or circle to defend their perimeter.
And for cases where the Tech is off. A boat full of Pirates (20-30) VS a Company of Knights (80-100).

It should be a Squad of Spartans(7-10) The smallest tactical unit is called a phalanx, and it's several hundred guys strong. There were no real squad-level tactics before ~1750 in any infantry unit anywhere in the Western World. It just involved my several phalanxes pushing your phalanxes hopefully out of formation, and then running you down. Weight and morale was about all that mattered. Individual initiative was actually discouraged. Which makes comparing Spartans and Ninjas ridiculous: if the Spartans get a few hours to form up, they auto-win, but if they don't, they auto-lose.

Understood. I was taking a Squad out of Phalanx and putting them a team of Ninja because having a whole phalanx VS a ninja or several hundred ninja would be ridiculous.

Rat: I concur. The Ballistics knife was pretty damn awesome. Although I wouldn't mind seeing the shovel fuck someone up.
Snoodles: Sorry. No Steyr.
Seeing the commercial for next weeks episode I believe I might have peed a little after seeing the Maui bite a piece off someone's neck.

Is it wrong that I have no idea who William Wallace or Shaka Zulu are?
