It's already bad enough that women who are raped by men are treated as asking for it, but men who are raped by women are treated as invisible. Or better yet, it's wacky. When it comes to movies and comics, I've seen way too many stories that have played it for laughs. Because male on male rape is funny, and female on male rape is ok. Tvtropes even has articles on both, and the lists of examples are so long it's sad. I remember once watching a clip of The Talk, and they were talking about a woman who had chopped of her husband's penis because he had filed for divorce. The hosts were having a great time laughing at the poor guy, one of them even saying "I think it's quite fabulous." The whole audience cracks up several times during the course of the video. Or that one time where a woman had caught a burglar and kept him tied to a chair, raping him several times over the course of three days. The comments were pretty much the same - people were complimenting the rapist and wondering what the victim was bitching about. After all, the rapist gave her victim a new pair of jeans and even some money! There has been some debate about whether the story is true or not, but the comments are still disgusting.

I don’t have the stomach to think about either of those stories.
I may have to stop reading this thread, for my sanity’s sake.

Toronto comedy team Sears & Switzer did the "robbery victim cross examined like a rape victim" skit maybe 20 years ago. Saw it on tv.
My personal hate is the crime shows that show cops threatening felons with being raped in prison. It's always treated as a "normal expected thing that will happen and you can't do anything about and we sure as hell aren't going to stop it". Pisses me off royally.

I chuckled. DISCLAIMER and TL;DR: I'm in no way belittling the trauma of rape when it occurs to men. It should be reported, it shouldn't be invisible, and it should be addressed as a serious crime. Now with that said, OP is about slut-shaming which is generally what happens on male-on-female which it is more common (because many factors). Female-on-male (which is rarer due to many factors) or male-on-male rape victims face emasculation which is due to this machismo attitude of our society. Anyways, I don't think the fact that women's rape are more focused on is a sign of misandry, but rather it's the other side of the coin. Women are more likely to be victims because they're sought after as sexual rewards by men and at the same time taught that they must be meek. They are then told that they deserved it for tempting men. Men are less likely to be victims because they are taught to be more aggressive and indeed to be the perpetrator. When men become victims, our machismo society tells they deserve it for being weak.So in order change things and make rape against men on equal grounds with rape against women, we need to change the culture that demands men to be aggressor. And since we’re on the “what about” mode, how come no of you address sexual violence between lesbians and trans-people?

On a forum that got anihalated recently, there was a member who posted a video about an inmate talking about how he had sex with other men. He "joked" that you don't want to get sent to prison because it will turn you gay. I played the homophobia angle (was trollin'), but the rest of the board seriously said this was way less offensive than sock puppets, calling someone dumb, and swearing.
I think I addressed it, given that my general position is that you should be provided with ALL of the relevent information.

2/3 of people who have been sexually assaulted would rather admit it to a survey than to law enforcement? Davedan: It is fair because I think anyone with a rational concern to false accusation is more worried about the public reaction, as opposed to the actual sentence. Fucking someone up in court isn't all about getting them punished. It can be a financial or personal attack, as well. No the rational concern about public reaction is fair enough. But saying that every rape acquital is due to a false accusation is not fair. Because what was tested was not whether or not the accusation was false but rather whether there was 'reasonable doubt' about whether: the accused penetrated the complainant without the complainant's consent So the accused could be acquited because - there was not enough evidence the accused was reasonably mistaken about the consent there was reasonable doubt -either about consent, the identity of the accused or even the actual physical act These things do not make the rape complaint false. Therefore using rape acquitalls as the equivalent of falsely reported rapes is wrong. Simply from an information gathering perspective.

Basically, I thought you were saying something completely different from what you were actually saying.

Ooh, ooh, I have an analogy!
Rape is like a house fire. While yes, a lot of people commit insurance fraud, it doesn't mean that legitimate house fires don't exist.
And both men and women can be arsonists.
There we go.

That's a weird post.
One thing I disagreed with a lot was the recent "He's a rapist because he didn't tell her he was Jewish" case.
